I think you do need a midfield general. Yann M'Vila would be perfect for you lot,and he's likely to moreso join a club in the CL. Djorou is good, but he's no Martin Keown. Now he was one nasty bastard. He was a rash,a pest, and one of the main reasons why Arsenal were successful. I still think Arsenal need a commanding keeper, someone that instills confidence into the back-line.Shay Given wouldn't be a bad stop gap until the young fella Arsenal have matures.
It is not my overevaluation of Lucas, you aint getting me, I am saying you failed by that much, so in that context the less of a good player you think Lucas is the smaller the margin Arsenal failed by because his presence in quite a few losses and draws would have got you more points, newcastle spurs united ect all games where a solid styfler would ahve done ye justice he doesnt have to be fantastic, he has to win the ball and get the ball to fab nasri and co, that he can do very well
I actually agree with that. Lucas is a stifler. He held our midfield together remarkably well.I'm not saying he's perfect, that would be silly. But his improvement in the last two years has been wonderful,if he added more goals to this..he would be even better.
he does like a pot shot, and to be fair to him this season he has chosen the right times to be doing that, when we are 2 or 3 up and in control and not getting caught with his pants down. There is a time and place for that and he now takes care of his cleaning up chores first before dessert They need to examine why the opposition gets to run at their back line as much as scrutinising their back line and keeper
The thing is, Wenger has had money to spend in the past and, for whatever reason, he's chosen not too spend it.
Arsenal lack plenty of things in not just their first team but throughout their squad, strength, determination, passion, leadership. As rumours about the future's of Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy gather momentum, Arsenal's weaknesses have been spotted by even their own players and if they do leave, the weaknesses will be more exposed than ever. Wenger needs to act fast, because otherwise the players won't be the only ones leaving. If any team was to drop out of the top four it would be Arsenal (But I have to stress, this is based at a very early stage), but I reckon a few signings will put it back in the balance.
He's not had that much to spend in the past to be honest. Most of the money the club has made has gone on paying down the stadium debt. I think the fact Arsenal is a plc has meant that the board has been very cautious about spending on transfers whilst being in debt. But you are right that Wenger has also wanted to pursue his own goals of trying to win trophies with a squad he has developed mainly from youth. I guess the question is now that he does have money, and very obviously needs to spend it, will he break his old habits and at least partly abandon his initial goal?
Their main problem is attitude. They take a long time to recover from defeat, very much a confidence team.
Somehow I don't think 50m on two players in the past would ahve put Arsenal in financial woes. PLC? Risk is part of business, no risk no rewards Arsene.
