I’ve been looking through all the posts and the press relating to our magnificent run of late and whilst the praise we’ve received belatedly from the press is a pleasant surprise I wondered if there could have been anything else that may have unduly influenced our run of results.

It’s then that I had an epiphany. See below for the only plausible explanation:

    • Newcastle 2- 2 Tottenham (Carrot Cake)
    • Wolves 1- 2 Newcastle (Lemon Drizzle Cake)
    • Newcastle 3-1 Blackburn (Chocolate Muffins)
    • Forest 3 – 4 Newcastle (Lemon and Ginger Muffins)
    • Villa 1 – 1 Newcastle (Baked Cheesecake)
    • QPR 0 – 0 Newcastle (Didn’t bake)
    • Newcastle 2 -1 Fulham (Orange and Amaretto Upside down Cake)
    • S****horpe 1 – 2 Newcastle (Blueberry and Almond Muffins)
    • Sunderland 0 – 1 Newcastle (Jalapeno, Sweet corn and Cheese Cornbread)
    • Newcastle 0 – 0 Arsenal (Didn’t bake)

Since I began baking we’ve scored in every match!

The truth is, as they say, in the pudding.

Baking recommendations for Wigan, Blackburn (in the cup) and Stoke to round off October to continue our unbeaten run?

From the results from what you've baked previously, I'd say chocolate muffins <ok>

There is a distinct lack of coffee and walnut cake.

I love coffee but never been a fan of coffee cake. I do put walnuts into the cheesecake though.

Just a simple baked vanilla cheese cake served with a strawberry and champagne coulis.

How are you at choux pastry? Some nice chocolate eclairs might inspire our french lads!

I'll jizz on the gates of Buckingham palace if we are still unbeaten by the end of October.

EDIT: With pie and sprinkles on my face.

Have you never used these recipes on WUM articles? Cheesecake with strawberry and champagne coulis sounds divine.

I use the one by Gordon Ramseys wife. It's available on the BBC Good Food website.

    Erm. Yep. You're right.

I can't really do pastry. It's really fiddly and far too punishing if you don't follow the recipe exactly.

Just follow the recipe for a standard baked cheese cake but for the coulis; macerate the strawberries in some lemon juice, a bit of sugar and some brandy for an hour. The blitz down to a puree and loosen with some champagne.
