I think so much of this is down to the Red Bull car (and maybe even the team) being developed around Vettel. He is clearly the no.1 driver right from the start of the year and has been honed into the car over the last few years. It's no wonder he is so consistent when he is more at one with his car than any other driver. It's all down to confidence and belief that the car will do what he wants it to. I don't believe any current driver has anything approaching this luxury. The car is so quick, even on cold tyres that a no.2 driver can be there just to soak up a few points but not to threaten Vettel in any way. As for Webber, we all know he can do the job of back up as and when allowed.

you mean like in 2010 when Webber had a bulletproof car and Vettels kept breaking down but yet he still managed to win the WDC because Webber kept crashing and messing up? Webber has had 1 mechanical breakdown in 4 seasons, easily the most reliable car on the grid, he just can't start very well, of course tin foil hat wearers will always try and make something more of Webbers failings other than the fact they are his failings that have been around forever, there's a very good reason Webber has never ever ever won any sort of championship at any level of motor racing, although it never stops him blaming everyone else and crying into cameras

OH, so you know something that Horner doesn't know? If you think the clutch problem is Webber then you know a lot more than the team boss. Well you better read this, because Horner is seeing it differently! The question now is, Why can't they get Webber's clutch to work? Vettel isn't having any problems with his isn't he? You be the judge!

    http://www.gptoday.com/full_story/v...d_to_address8221_Webber8217s_clutch_problems/

This is some of what Horner had to say:

Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has said that the team need to address the on-going problems with Mark Webber’s clutch. This has plagued his season so far with a number of poor getaways from the grid, including last time out in Belgium.
Horner put Webber’s poor start down to the clutch not working as anticipated and once he dropped down the order, it was very difficult for him to recover any ground.

He said: “We had a clutch that under delivered and created a horrible start for Mark. We could see on the formation lap that the clutch did not appear to be performing as it should. Adjustments were made on the formation lap but the clutch has not delivered as it should have done at the start.”

He added that the poor getaway then compromised him into the first corner and from then on, he was on the back foot: “Fernando [Alonso] got a run on the downhill into Eau Rouge and, after that point, the race became fairly static. It was only Fernando who made progress from that point onwards.”

One reason why Webber couldn’t make progress was due to the poor straight line speed, Horner admitted: “We could close up, but we didn’t have enough straightline speed at the end of the straight and we lost ground in the dirty air of the middle sector.”

For Mark, his clutch wasn’t good in preparation going to the grid. We did our best to tidy it up but he conceded a place to Rosberg off the start.

Maybe that's why Kimi backed off Red Bull... I am sure they can't force him to be a No.2... Maybe that was the only offer on the table there.

The only 'evidence' that RBR favour Vettel comes from Webbers mouth, which, afaic, is generally a twisted version of the facts to make everyone feel sorry for him, wing-gate being a prime example of how he twists facts to make him seem like a victim of underhand tactics, he should take the advice he dished out to Pizzonia when they were team mates and Pizzonia was being screwed over by Williams to Webbers benefit, and 'man up'.

Poor Webber he was getting so screwed over that he willingly signed a contract with RBR again (TWICE) after wing-gate which has openly been stated over and over again that (Newey) wanted the wing tested. Webber didn't like it but Seb did, how dare Seb listen to his bosses and help out the team down the line. Webber knew what he was doing and he acted just like Alonso (Flavio influence) on the matter to screw Seb over and gain a dirty advantage over Seb for the rest of the season because he knew Seb was his biggest threat to the title. Thank **** H.Marko was there to keep Webber in order because it's no secret Webber was pushing Horner to make Seb no 2 and he has never forgiven RBR for refusing to back him to screw Seb over.

IMO the reason why Red Bull have isolated him is because Webber acted like a massive dick in 2012 by trying to screw Seb/RBR out of the WDC and help Alonso/Ferrari. Webber is a back stabbing **** and he deserves all the negative karma that comes his way! Webber tried selling RBR down the river multiple times, and I hope he wins nothing with porsche!

Seb just revealed what RBR wanted after Brazil during Malaysia this year. Webber kicked out of F1 and giving Dietrich a (none negotiable) option to deal with. Vettel pretty much chucked out the trash himself which Horner and Marko couldn't do because Dietrich seemed to like having Mark up his backside over the years.

Whilst Webber has had a car that generally finishes more races than Vettel he also has a car which is lucky to make it through a weekend without some sort of 'minor' failure (KERS being the favourite).

Is this down to driver styles, is it down to a drivers physique (Webber is a fair bit bigger than Vettel so theres less spare weight to play around with, plus a higher COG/COM), or maybe it is team influenced.

Webber is a straight talking guy but this does not mean that he can't bend the truth when he so desires. Wing gate has been mentioned and even now a substantial proportion of fans still don't know what really happened. He has been used by Red Bull these last few years no doubt but he chose to resign with them on more than one occasion, if he truly believed his own words then why would he do it.

Something is up at Red Bull, Vettels car breaks down more than Webbers. That is either style or RB give Vettel a car closer to the limit (faster but fragile). Webbers car is allergic to KERS and other aids, is that style, is it in fact that Vettel doesn't complain about it as much, or is it down to RB giving Webbers car less care and attention other than the 'essential' parts. Its a interesting area of thought but one which is twisted by so many people its impossible to get to the bottom of :(

If it were possible to give them absolutely identical machinery, absolutely identical personnel and a head to head race, I really don't think that the current Webber would stand a chance against Vettel (in an F1 car).

I think he could have three or four years ago, but not now.

Vettel has matured greatly as a driver and is (hopefully for fans of other drivers) at his peak, whereas Webber is in the twilight of his F1 career. Yes he's super fit and a bloody good driver, but he just doesn't have that little bit extra that Vettel seems to have.

I still think he was unlucky to not take the title in 2010, and I really think he could have used more backing from the team to do it, but RBR had already selected their man... And on the eve of their 4th consecutive title, it's hard to argue that they chose unwisely.

So basically you are say9ing that Webber is nothing more, to Red Bull, than a back up points driver then, right? I think Red Bull has beaten him into submission, like some people do with a wild tiger... as you see sometimes he turns around and bites back, but he is totally submissive right now... If they tell him lie down and roll over, he might protest a little, but he will lie down and roll over for sure. I like him but I don't like what they turned him into.

Well it would be hard to argue that he's their #1 driver.

How ever you try to twist what I said it still amounts to the same thing Red Bull = Vettel is the boss. So if you are saying Vettel is beating Webber into submission it's Vettel giving the orders there anyway. So if he says give Webber crap to drive, Webber will have crap. Simple!

You're not Manny's evil twin or something?

Seem to have this chip on the subject of Vettel to the degree of Manny when Hamilton won Hungary etc.

Have I ever been out of place or rude to anybody here? Silvercheese I was only making a point and I am sure most people agree with the point I made from the start and that is Webber usually gets shafted when he starts near to Vettel or he is prevented from starting near to Vettel through no fault of his. Well even Horner is admitting saying that Red Bull needs to deal with the problem and he isnt satisfied with the results.
