That's what they don't understand. Immediate gratification is inherent in our society nowadays. People don't wan to wait, they want everything now and understandably in the case of football fans who pay hard earnt money. For all the stick we get in the media, pre-Bates/Abramovich, the Chelsea job was virtually the most stable managerial job in football. I'm not so sure the Glazers would accept mediocrity and stock prices falling, they need the money and would panic IMO.
I don't think Moyes is as defensive as you are making out. Of the 'dodgy start' only the West Brom game is the real disappointment, I mean Liverpool always raise their game against us and Man City are the same and able to do it a bit better since coming into money. Of the choices available for Manager I was happy with Moyes, first he's British, Second he's in it for the long haul. He's making mistakes at the moment but the next 4 or 5 games will see some points on the board and suddenly all will not look so bad. The Shaktar manager suggested Moyes was rotating too much and I think he may have a point. Starting the West Brom game with no Evra or Vidic, strange for me even if he was looking to 'rest' players. Do we need to rest players 6 games in? Surely we need our best 2 centre halves playing in the Prem & CL every game until we're in a better position.
Well the fact he is going 4 4 2 in every game shows he isn't defensive, quite the opposite actually as that is not a defensive formation. That's the problem though, our wingers aren't playing anywhere near well enough to justify doing it and I wish he could see that and go for the more pragmatic 4 3 3/ 4 5 1 until this gets sorted. I've said before though, I half think he's doing this to keeop Rooney happy, letting him play as part of a front two. Agree completely on the defence situation. He needs to find a centre half partnership and stick with it for a while. If he absolutely insists one of the senior centre halves plays then it should be Vidic + one other. I would go with Vidic Evans for now, even though I really think Jones should be ultimately given one of the centre half positions.
The way he's playing though you gotta have Rooney in which is a shame for Kagawa as thats his best position, not out on the left. Rooney's contract needs to be a priority, and Januzzi's for that matter. And you're right about the wingers not performing. They'll all get a chance because this is the area to rotate but our best at the moment is Nani, (deserves a run in team). Young and Valencia need to improve. Valencia is not the player he was 2 years ago, that injury has knocked him back. Zaha, surprised he hasn't had a run out yet but then again I haven't seen how he's trained, his chance will come. Vidic/Ferdinand is still the first choice in my eyes, although one of Jones/Smalling/Evans has to step up to the level to partner Vidic in the future. My other worry is that he's playing Fellaini to stubbornly prove a point, thats his signing, thats his man. It was evident against Shaktar that he's not up to the speed we play at, too many times possesion was lost when the ball came to Fellaini. He has attributes though and his sharpness will improve. I'd be using him as an impact player from the bench in the tougher games until he can prove himself against the lesser opposition. Carrick/Cleverly is still the best we have.
It is understandable, but at the same time you pay these prices knowing the risk involved - especially regarding football! Yeah also forgot to mention the expectation of United when Fergie joined was completely different to Moyes now - and the board!
If he says "yes", he knows jack **** about footie. Ferguson was too old to go through yet another rebuild, because that's what was looming. And still is.
I would go with a three man CM of Carrick, Fellaini and Cleverly (or Kagawa if he could find ANY semblance of form), with a front three of Rooney, RVP and Nani. Rooney off the left, Nani off the right. With those front six and options avavilable by way of Hernandez, Welbeck, Kagawa and Valencia we really should have more than enough to get us through to when he is allowed to sign some players to boost the squad. Not saying that's a league title or CL winning side but it's sufficient to challenge top four definitely, for the most part that's last years title winning side. Those players need to step up and get out of their post Fergie trance though.
Bingo! That's exactly right mate. As someone who sat through 11 seasons of watching Moyes Everton sides, I can assure you that caution is indeed his default setting. It frustrated us for years, at times it proved prudent but last season in particular it cost us points. Last season he let them off the leash a bit more (knew he had to be seen to be a more attacking manager perhaps? ) & we played some great football, created plenty of chances, but lacked a real top drawer striker, so often struggled to convert our dominance into goals. BUT, as soon as we got ahead, the old Moyes would re-appear, we'd start to gradually drop off & he'd invariably make defensive minded substitutions & on a number of occasions last season we conceded late goals & drew games that we were totally bossing before we took the lead..... It's in his DNA, I don't think he's capable of losing that mindset, he was a CB as a player & he thinks like a CB as a manager & always will imo.
i don't blame Moyes 100% for going defensive at times, our defending were horrible at times this season but agree, he need to go out attacking more at times
can you start pls using your brain before posting here !!? bcz it seem you leave it in a safebox everytime you post here how on earth he managed to keep Everton at top 8 all those years and collected those points ? YES when he was a manger with Everton, he may had to play with more defensive approach facing City or Chelsea .. and how blame him, even Sir alex did that at times with better squad than everton facing those sides, but sure he had to play more attacking approach facing the other sides who were as good as his side and that is how he end up with enough points to put Liverpool behind them in the table with worst squad .. playing defensively and collecting a point a game will not had put Everton at the top8 position
