Why is everybody slating Carrick? It's a contagious virus that has been passed over from BBC 606 to this board. There is no cure for those who are affected by it and they are doomed to lead sad unfulfilled lives in the pursuit of Man United contentment.
youre definitely right about gibson,and anderson is hugely inconsistant,but over the past 3 seasons fletcher has definitely been better than carrick.he attacks and defends equally well,unlike carrick who can only do one or the other and often neither (hes knocked us out of the cl and fa cup over the last 2 seasons due to hugely preventable mistakes). IMO he just doesnt have the ability to be a top player. better off at spurs or liverpool or something.
I think he's a good player as long as there are others in the centre who can go forward and be more creative. I think he would be perfect in a 5 man midfield with a defensive midfielder behind him and a creative midfielder in front.
i heard that during the second half at wembley Carrick approached the referee and asked him for a ball - when the referee told him there was already a ball on the pitch Carrick replied "yes but barcelona are playing with that one"
