Thanks I think though I can't help but feel that is a compliment and an insult in equal measure.

I've lived away from the area for too long (would love to move back but now unlikely to happen) and I think living in Liverpool and hearing Everton fans saying white is black whilst Liverpool fans are saying black is white makes me think "**** that must be how we sound to everyone else". I just miss the North-East generally and don't really have anything against Sunderland.

Well other than the fact you all wish you were Newcastle born geordies of course but I guess its good to aspire to something better.

I was brought up, in Consett, as a Geordie and was always proud to say so as I started travelling.

These days I avoid saying I'm a Geordie and refer to myself as 'Durham' ......... it's nowt to do with football, just the embarrassment of being associated with the 'professional Geordies'.

You know what I mean, the charicatures who act up to the stereotype that the rest of us try to play down <doh>

I know exactly what you mean. I'm 'from' Whitley Bay which can either be pretty much Newcastle or "a small, beautiful coastal town" depending on the situation, in truth its neither (though I do still love the place)!

I've been away for 14 years and I rarely get back but I still get asked to "do a Geordie impression" on a weekly basis by people I work with (my accent is now pretty watered down). Mostly because they know I'll tell them where to go.

Anyhoo, off to bed for me but more importantly good luck against Hull. I think you'll need it, they aren't a bad team at all and (I'll get killed for saying this) I rate Bruce higher than either of our current managers - though only time will tell.
