I really don't think an increase in insurance is the issue (if indeed, it is an issue...... Maybe there's some info to be gleaned from Celtic and the German clubs that have it?). It's stuck in the past, middling politicians and busybodies who don't really have a clue about football and this whole standing saga. The sports minister even said she gets as many letters complaining about people standing up as she does those that want to stand. So her decision? Try and force everyone to sit down, as opposed to creating safe standing areas so everyone is happy. There's no reason to not introduce safe standing. It's quite ridiculous.
Or you could take the Sports Ground Safety Authority‘s (not exactly a revolutionary fan based group!) word for it “the injury statistics we produce do not provide firm statistical evidence that standing is less safe than seating" ...and by the way that is now! Safe standings is even safer than not less safe
Signed. Over 44,000 now. Its ridiculous - safely in operation at Celtic, that well known house of calm supporters, but darrn sarrff, not considered safe. What a load of bollox.
No disagreement from me. Too many politicians who know jack **** about football, suddenly become experts overnight...Biggest culprits...Tony Blair.. David Mellor who showed is ignorance on radio talk ins.. Knew nothing. David Cameron, who supported x one day and z the next...
Hopefully ticket prices will be lower because you can cram more people into the same space when standing compared to seated.
So, how many injuries has there been for example at Dortmund where there are 2,000 more standing behind one goal than the capacity of the KCOM? For reasons others have mentioned there is less risk of injuries with people standing in the railed safe standing areas than standing up in seated areas.
They vary, some places just have a seat for each person to stand in front of, others use it to increase capacity by 1.6 to 1.9 per seat. The capacity increase is generally limited by safety rules on egress rates etc, so concourse entrances are likely to limit capacity increases in many English grounds.
Theoretically you can fit more in with safe standing. From memory I think it's an extra person for every two seated. However there are apparently other issues which make that unlikely, certainly at the KCOM. Stuff like the number of people per exit.
Sounds right. Dortmund's Yellow Wall holds 25,000 standing and between 16 and 17,000 when seated . Another thing we won't get that they have is people comingbp round dispensing beer on the terracing.
I'm singing from the same hymn sheet. I'm not against safe standing if that is what people want to do, but insurance costs will increase because that's the way the business works...End off..Final comment from me. Other than to say good luck with the campaign.
The insurance business doesn't work that way. There is no evidence to say insurance costs woud go up whatsoever.
I'm not against safe standing if that is what people want to do, but pie costs will increase because that's the way the pie business works...End off. Final comment from me.
