The only thing I've done of note to date is the Transfer Deadline Day Thread! Can't imagine anyone being intimidated by my posting history plus I'm very nice. The only heated argument I've ever had was with Smug on 606 about the incident with Bent's mum. And it ended on good terms (when I sussed his identity, haha). Never seen a newbie shot down TBH.
OK Syd you and me outside the SOl, I'm 3 years older and more experienced than you so you can have Oscar on your side. Pink leotards only, should be quite a spectacle, would draw big crowds though, might have stage it inside the SOL. On the other side, Sometimes when new folk come on, they are occasionally rubbished for having an opinion, quickly leave the site never to return. It's usually us old thick skinned lot that bounce back even after a slagging (never had one yet at least not one that bothered me). It may be a bit easier now that Chris (and his ilk) has been given his marching orders, 'cos he was quite scathing in some of his remarks to newbies. For myself, only get access now and then, usually lunchtime at work, and then threads are relatively old, by the time you've read through, someone else has often replied with similar thoughts to your own.
Sorry Syd forgot to say, it would have to wait until I can save up some beer tokens for the flight back, and the way flights are going up (no pun intended), it may take a while.
If you knock me down it will tak ages to get me back up and the sight of me in a leotard of any colour will finish any fight. You are right about newbies and how we can sometimes slate, something we should be aware of. thank god for that
I'm finding it difficult to respond to some threads as certain posters seem to think I have an agenda. You then get half a dozen threads praising Bruce. Couldn't give two monkeys what anyone thinks of me, but I try not to just keep repeating myself ad infinitum. Too many threads have the exact same comments on each one, where posters push their views. This is how it ends up as slanging matches between fellow fans, when they feel they have to defend their views or worse still themselves. All the fence sitters viewing the forum get your selves in and make your point, all's fair in love and football.
please log in to view this image Seriously, would you trust your pet puppy to a man with a face like that?
Nah mate, have been saying for months, If a person is good enough to take the time to make a thread, anybody reading it should say something in reply, give encouragement, or dissagree, without being a prick, some threads get nearly a thousand looks, but maybe only a dozen replys, and dont know the answer, but now you are a threader get your thinking cap on, I will read and respond, as will others, its got to start at the beginning. not middle or end.
Its not the most inviting for some Sunderland supporters judging by the amount of sniping and back stabbing that gors on at times. No need to mention names, we all know who they are.
IMO, if the mods were more aggressive then the posters wouldn't be and more decent people would post. The amount of MAG wums doesn't help, they're a ****ing sad bunch tbh.
Difficult one. We're getting abuse on another thread for being too aggressive. We're getting told we should be more aggressive on this one. I think if we stayed away from the likes of politics and religion there'd be far fewer blow ups, less swearing and half of the bickering. People may post a little more. There's specialist forums for those topics anyway so I don't see why we don't just stick to friendly football debate.
Are people really that thick like? I mean, if you don't want OT conversations, don't click on the ****ing thread that clearly says OT. I don't post much on OT threads, I know what it leads to but I respect it's right to be there. Fact is Disco there are people looking to get offended, it's what they want, these people are the real problem other wise they'd just avoid OT threads If is see a thread that Say's 'OT Gays taking it up the arse' I'm not going to click on it. These killjoys can't help themselves, click on it and complain about what they've seen. They're backwards. As for swearing? There is an option to remove it, remind them it's there instead of catering for the complainers.
