Must be something to do with the training techniques, or lack of proper strengthening, maybe Wenger isn't all too high on strengthening, and as a result, we have players with weak muscles who often break down because they can't cope with the rigours that are demanded. I think it's more to do with the latter, not enough proper strengthening.
'The training ground is too hard' ? Haven't heard that one before, but if it's the case then that could cause strains and injuries. Artificial pitches were notoriously hard and caused no end of injuries. Do we actually get many injuries in training though ? Most of them seem to be in the passage of play in PL games. Wrighty has got a good point though, if Arsenal could keep all of our players fit and on form, then we would be favourites for the title.
Part of it is down to signing or keeping injury-prone players, but the training ground might be part of it. Even if the major problems aren't being picked up there, it might effect the players' approach to training. Going into games without preparing properly or putting 100% into it might explain why players pick up silly strains early on in games. I also think that Wenger tends to rush players back, as they come back before the expected time on repeated occasions. That leads to more injuries and it becomes a constant cycle of fitness problems, in my opinion.
Wenger used to rush players back, but I think he's changed that approach these days. Although that said, we do find ourselves short at times and Wenger will bring a player back when he probably should still be recovering. That stems from not having enough quality cover in key positions. But as wrighty points out, how do you keep all of those players happy when they are fit ? Do we go down the Chelsea route and buy up all the talented players only to have to loan them out to keep our squad within the limit ? I do think we create our own problems though. Players like wilshere have been injured so many times, that he's always going to be injury prone now, so as you say the cycle continues.
He hasn't been away he has been resting and it's a coincidence that he has returned just when Chelsea win a game for once ! BTW he has another rest period booked that coincides with Chelsea's next loss #plasticchav
The injuries Arsenal got v Sheffield Wednesday looked like they were down to not properly warming up and that is pretty poor. I'm not sure Arsenal have more than others to be honest We have had injuries too ... Rose, Lloris, Eriksen, Dembele, Bentaleb, Son, chadli and Mason this season. I suspect other teams could provide similar lists...imo Arsenal are weaker because they do not tend to strengthen their squad ... it is the lack of buys that are the problem rather than the injuries...to not buy an outfield player in the summer was moronic beyond belief.
A 1-0 thrashing of Norwich at SB and he's the Twisted Threadstarter again. Not that he's fair weather!
Not sure how accurate they are but when they make tables of injury statistics we're always top of the league with Everton in second...
