As stated to me by a Spurs fan who regularly watches both the first team and reserves. Townsend is not going to make the grade for Spurs, he's inconsistent and lazy. Townsend can look the worlds best at times in a few games, then do nothing for the majority of games, the level for his footballing skills is still to be found as is his temperament, which can be erratic. I asked him this after Townsend had looked like a decent player against Shamrock Rovers.
