It's a shame because the only thing that let's him down is the pressing - he has the quality on and off the ball to suit Klopp.
I'd be sorry to see him go - but at the moment it seems the only thing that would get him a starting run would be an injury to one of the current four in there. I can't see Sturridge being happy with that for long.
Maybe you're right. His performance against Leicester however, showed he can fit the 'system'. He's not as adaptable as Klopp would like and maybe that's another factor in his 'droppage'. Being vocal about where you don't like to play isn't the best idea either if you're looking for a starting spot.
True. Professionals should just keep their heads down and do the best they can with the job they're given. If you have an issue you should go and have it out with the manager in private.
Yep. Sturridge and Sahko...two players who should have kept their mouths shut. Origi better be careful too. Migs has said the right things about being dropped, not complaining and talking positively about working hard.
Couldn't tell you exactly, but it was to do with him playing out of position and not being comfortable with it. He said he had to do it for the team but wasn't happy with it and that he is best as a central striker.
Cheers Not sure what the issue is with that TBH - someone asked him a question about his best position and he was honest (said pretty much what we all expected), I'm sure Milner was quite vocal about not wanting to play left back but there wasn't any criticism about him being unprofessional. I think a lot of this does come to pre conceived notion that Sturridge is arrogant.
I think there's far too much interaction these days between players and media, both traditional and internet based. Journalists will always look for a story, so the slightest sign of anything controversial they'll be all over it. Reading between the lines though, and speaking as one who has always defended Sturridge from accusations of arrogance and or laziness, I believe there is an element of disgruntlement in his words that isn't there in Milner's.
The old 'answering a question honestly' strategy has led many to a large 'exit' sign. Sturridge has real competition now and he's not reacting to it very well. There could be another natural partnership for him just waiting to be formed but he's not convinced Klopp enough and atm, doesn't look like he's trying too hard to either.
I'm not aware of Milner kicking off at all. I'd imagine he's quite enjoying the way it's going at the mo.
He said something about it not being ideal when he was first plonked out there, that's all. He's not the type to moan.
Right. I wasn't aware of that. Masterful management though. I was somewhat shocked and worried when my mate told me.
I thought it was a good move tbh, I was expecting him to do a solid if unspectacular job there. Got to be better than Bert, bless 'im.
I think Milner accepted it quicker...when asked Klopp said all he had to do was explain to Milner that what he was asking wasn't really to play a traditional FB but more a midfielder that covered the entire line and would be involved more up front and centrally than at the back...his displays have kind of shown he must have quickly realised he wasn't getting bullshitted by Klopp...and let's be honest Milner looks more like the kind of guy that says "ok boss" than Sturridge. There's a number of first teamers that had their roles changed either subtlety or significantly by Klopp and they've got on attempting it. Think it's about trusting the boss that he has their best interests up there with the teams interests...looking at the other players either Klopp can't figure out a place for Sturridge or Sturridge isn't listening...either way he won't get on under those circumstances
probably true. sturridge whined like a bitch after one single game. whether milner thinks he can deliver this game for a season or even half a season we don't know. cos he's not a little bitch basically both are on about the same huge wage. one is getting on with it and paying his wage back the other isn't and hasn't for years
Again, I can't see any reasonable evidence that Sturridge isn't 'getting on with it'. A lot of the comments are based on 'Milner looks like the type to just get get on with it', whereas both players said the exact thing. He is also in the unfortunate position of having someone like Firmino ahead of him, whereas Milner doesn't have much competition. I do genuinely believe that there is an element of 'profiling' in football (I'm not accusing anyone on here of that but more aimed at the media).
