privy to the ins and outs of his personal life then? he has confided in you that he will accept a new deal?
Maybe a bit controversial but , Although Monks team has done very well this season, when the board offer him a new longer contract and larger wage package will they have in the back of their mind that unlike some of the shirt kissers that were good enough to move to what they thought were bigger clubs and warm benches etc.. Monk obviously was`nt good enough to make the move so wisely kept kissing the shirt harder to stay and got a lucky break like brenda did with us as a gambled manager that worked out. So if his team do well again next season and he gets the chance to move on will he jump at it and kiss another clubs shirt instead ? cant say i`d blame him if the money and club are much bigger plus his mrs may encourage it ? So should the board be as tight as possible with a new deal knowing he will probably stay anyway, but drop us like a bad habit next season if the offers right for him and us ? It would be great if he stayed and the team kept succeeding every year bringing stability to the club for the first time in a long time. but money talks as its the nature of the game.
Of course, we don't know what he's on now but the new deal must respect his 'rise' so to speak. I think there'll be written in a hefty fee for us if/when he eventually goes. If he is successful next season then that may force a few 'biggies' to get off their arses and leave the monitor bench to actively begin to court him. I personally think we'll get two more years then, along with Dai, I see Rangel in his shoes. He apparently actively helps with and takes some training sessions now.
Another Monk article, this time in the Telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...cause-I-was-so-exposed-to-the-real-world.html It gives some interesting insight into his methods and philosophy. I'm wondering whether he's had such a successful season that he will find it very hard to better it next season?
Garry should be named manager of the season if there is any justice. At the beginning of the season Chelsea were one of the favourites for the title so Mourinho has just done what was expected of him. Southampton and Swansea were both tipped for relegation at the beginning of the season so Koeman and Monk must be at the top of the 'manager of the season' list! But Koeman is an experienced manager whereas Garry was an absolute novice. Add to that the fact that we lost our top goalscorer at the start of 2015 and were again tipped to drop like a stone! Arguably Monk has done better without Bony than he did with him. He has established a plan B, C and D and has also given us the ability to change formation and tactics during a match! Don't think for a minute that Garry will win it as the panel don't tend to look outside of the PL golden boys but he has been the outstanding manager this season and broken club records for fun. Even though we lost today, can't remember enjoying a game of football so much; it was breathtaking - we went toe to toe with a team that had world class in every position and it took a couple of wonder saves to deny us a share of the points!
Monk, Gylfi and Swansea deserve great credit this year. It's Monk vs. Koeman for manager of the year, for me. I could have won the league with Chelsea.
The Guardian played with stats to rank clubs by how error-prone they were. The least error prone were Chelsea, Swansea and Southampton, which jibes with my take on which managers did the best job (though I’d rank Monk and Koeman above Mourinho).
