lol. I think you'd do ok out there to be honest. some of their tracks are made for cook, strauss and trott. It would be all about how the bowlers go. england have a very decent attack, and they haven't had a real massive toil in a long time now. that is to their credit. someone always picks up the slack.
the thing is, in the form they're in now, its our mid to lower order doing the damage, our front three really not doing well at the mo
the ball seems to be doing a bit first up, on a flat dusty bowl, it wouldn't be doing anything. the top 3 could bat for 2.5 days without breaking a sweat. ok, a slight exaggeration but those lads love batting and can do it for a looooooooong time.
yep especially cook and trott but this series, cook is averaging 5, strauss about 20 or so and I dont know about Trott but i'd assume around the same
Cooke and Strauss haven't been on form in this series but Cooke was a few weeks back against Sri Lanka and both were on fire in Aus. They'll come good.
course they will. Bell wasn't doing particularly well until today ( a 70 odd and a couple of fails?), Morgan hadn't got a score at all. That is the thing about this england team, someone will always pull you out of a hole. day one of this match was the prime example. 10 years ago you'd have folded for 180.
i know, thats why im worried about cook, hes going back to the form he was in before the ashes and he may not recover before the next test series after this which i think is west indies, however im still backing him for a century next innings
I know, our strength in depth is ****ing amazing, Broad at no.9 in this test! We have capable batsmen till no.11 ffs, i fully expect us to win this match then all e have to do is defend for 4 more innings and get 2 more draws and we're number 1!
Pietersen fail after fail after fail then he gets a double century and has looked solid since. You have to give players a fair run before you go calling for them to be dropped. Up to today, Morgan had failed miserably against the best side he has faced in tests but now he's got a 70, you can't drop him. No one can be dropped from this team at this current time. It took Collingwood 15 or so failures before he was dropped and still you could argue that we miss his fielding, determined batting and useful bowling. Who would we bring in? I think Bopara deserves a longer run at some point, probably when someone is injured. Bresnan is only playing because Tremlett is out yet he's a fine all-rounder. Who'd be a selector?
Oh, trust me, i never call for them to be dropped, i'm very against dropping people, i too dont think we can drop anyone and we have a alright replacement for every position although a back-up spinner worrys me, none of them seem good enough to be england regulars
Talking of back-up spinners: the player who has been most disappointing this summer is Swann, supposedly the best spinner in the world.
Harbajan is having a tough time of it too. As a spinner, if you can hold an end up, then sometimes that is enough. there hasn't been a cracked 5th day pitch for him to bowl on, so that is a bit harsh
Well I never got all the hype about him, I always thought he was good but not one of the best bowlers in the world.
Swannie's getting protected by the media and I don't know why. Probably down to his "cheeky chappie" persona. Tuffers was the same, bit of a lad who gave the tabloids gifts for the front pages so they gave him it easy on the back pages.
