Oh it can still do that. I'm living proof!

Hardly been to the gym the last 6 months due to work hours at th minute but haven't eased up on the socialising, so my weight has shot up, purely down to Guinness.

I might be wrong here but somebody told me once that the stronger the beer the more calories it has, as a general rule.

I think that's right as a general rule. Guinness is just 4%.

Tyres? posh git, we had to tie a knot ion the end of the rope and hang on for dear life :) all good fun though mate eh? or a couple of jumpers chucked down for goal posts and challenge the next street to a game of footy. We interacted with humans back then, i knew everyone on our estate and most on the neighbouring estates as well. My kids wouldn't know who lived in the next street FFS.
I remember we had two local bobbies who patrolled the estate and if you got caught doing anything they would give you the option. Either take a clip off him or be taken home to your parents, i always took the clip cos my father would have given me worse. Not that he was bad but the shame of having the coppers at the door warranted more than one clip for sure.

Plus you also had the cane or the slipper at school which kept you in line to a degree. It never stopped us getting into trouble but we did have a certain respect for the system.

I hate coppers and i had more than my fair share of canings and clips round the ear, but i did have respect and understood that if i wanted to get into mischief, there was a price to be paid if i got caught.

    Exactamundo mate.

Cane was outlawed before my time in school but my brothers kept me in check and made sure I knew about it if I crossed the line.

Mum would give me a quid on the weekend if I'd been good at school and 50p would go on sweets and 50p for half hour on a rowing boat down the local park. I'd usually end up in trouble with the parky for not fetching the boat back for ages which would subsequently mean the following week I wouldn't get my quid.

Nowadays the kids would just Stab the parky and that would be the end of it.

Back in my day everybody knew everybody else in the community and whilst we were always getting up to mischief and pushing the boundaries you were always brought back down to earth when somebody you thought was just a random pulled you up and said "just wait until I see your Dad in the club tonight" - invariably they wouldn't bother but it was always enough to stop you in your tracks.

That community spirit has gone these days, I know my close neighbours but that's just about it. Community self policing has gone, especially in the cities and the boundaries we all had are disappearing.

The only difference is we hear about it more now because of the amount of outlets available.

Crime was always there and always will be. Back then we only heard of the major crimes, now anything makes the media.

I get the whole romance of 'oh when we were kids.. etc. ect.' but I don't buy into it. Social media seems to have messed with everyone tbh and the kids are getting the blame.

I'm probably wrong. But who cares I'm on the internet so I can say what I want :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Two 14-year-olds have been charged with murder over the deaths of a girl and a woman in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

The two victims have not been officially identified but police say they are believed to be Elizabeth Edwards, 49, and her 13-year-old daughter Katie.

Their bodies were found at a house in Dawson Avenue, Spalding, on Friday afternoon.
