as it stands, they must prove the ref got it wrong, surely the video evidence should have to prove the ref got it right? basically a player is guilty as long as there is contact, no matter how minimal. the fa, guilty unless proved innocent.
It was an independent panel, not the FA! It's not the worst thing I've seen for a red card but I've certainly seen less for one too. Carrol clearly swings his arm out and there's no way he didn't know he was there as he was just hanging off him! Whether he clipped him or removed his head is irrelevant, it's the intent that matters.
i've lost count of the amount of times that i've thought about appeals panels, 'how, how, how on ****ing earth did they come to that decision??'. The Derry one being one of the most ludicrous. It makes me wonder whether they come to the decisions simply because they don't want to be seen to undermine the referees.
ref gets a month ban for sending off ronaldo http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/fail...anned-from-officiating-real-madrid-games.html there was more contact than derry or barton. now thats what you call buying the officials.
Well, if WHU actually do this and it isn't thrown out immediately, that could be it for football. Whatever the quality of the appeals process they are part of a league system and surely agree to abide by its regulations as members. If they want to change the regulations, they need to lobby within the organisation. If they challenge this successfully it opens the door for every team to tie up the system with legal challenges, refusing to accept relegation until umpteen appeals have been heard etc etc. on the grounds of a dodgy refereeing decision back in August. If they want someone to blame for their league position and awful football they need look no further than Allardyce.
