This is another game we should win. 11th in League 1 v Barrow 22nd L2. But this is Ipswich. Whereas the EFL is a nonsense competition and things didnt go according to plan for us, several players clearly played to try to earn a go in PC's 1st XI, and he seems committed to win this match today and field his strongest team. He had praise for several and I expect we will see Jackson there. A 3-1 home win and thru to the 3rd round. Where the real business starts.
Oh yeah this is not the EFL trophy. A comfortable victory today and then a plum third round tie against the mighty Liverpool or a winnable tie to progress to the fourth please. 3-0 Town.
He's also started throwing players under the bus again....think demolition man might be back in January!! 2-0 town
I read something different to that from you. He’s not named a single player. Everything he says is pretty obvious.
He didn't name a single player last season but said exactly the same thing about not wanting throw players under the bus last season...consequently he threw them under the bus. What he's basically said is he couldn't get a balanced squad over 1 transfer window, so there will be changes coming forwards and he's no loyalty to players who hasn't performed for him
I interpreted the same as ITFC. He goes on about the personnel, trusting personnel, neither the fans nor I can trust the personnel. What he actually means is his players. Members on here, fans on various forums, social media have questions about the manager. Throwing away winnable leads in 10 matches to date. This is not just down the 'personnel'. He needs to take responsibility and up his game management. Beginning today, let's have a really resounding win to put everyone in a better frame of mind when we resume the league on Tuesday.
Looking at the quotes, I’m with itfcptc on this one. The odd mistake on the pitch here or there would definitely be on the players in question, particularly if it was one or two players frequently making mistakes. However, consistent errors across the team - as well as a seemingly inherent inability to hold onto two goal leads - is down to the manager, the coaching staff, and the on-pitch tactics. I don’t think it’s a stretch to state that well-coached teams, which are confident in the formation and system, do not make a habit of throwing away leads and conceding a high number of goals. I really don’t think we will lose this one. Maybe Barrow can scrape a replay, but I’m confident we will get through to the third round. I’d really like to see this team play Championship opposition to see how close we are to the ultimate short term objective. I think our system would work better against Championship teams and our players would presumably raise their levels and motivation (compared to teams like Barrow and Arsenal U21s, no disrespect intended).
Agreed. With better management and subs when in the lead we could've won far more of those matches. Cook likes to make changes to his front four with the subs, about time he made some defensive subs to secure a win instead.
Nuggets, PTC, southcoast. If all players were equal then why would anyone spend £100m on a player? We have some round pegs in round holes but there’s still a mountain of work to do on recruitment. Cook has work to do too, but some of the performances lately have been down to the players.
Am I hearing right, the Pig is up alongside Bonne, 442? Popped out for a cuppa. Sounds more threatening.
