For a successful businessman he runs an awful operation here. How he can allow a losing setup to continue shows his intent. I conclude that having a PL team is just a status symbol to him and if/when we go down he won't be bothered and will just cut his losses.
The players.
They may be footballers, but aren't professional. Seem to care more about protecting the easy ride they get from the club or until something threatens their reputation/easy ride i.e relegation on the CV or a manager PDC who rumbled them.
The managers.
I think they are least to blame actually. Either hamstrung by inept ownership or by player power. Yes the managers all have their faults from Burce, to Dick, but I thnk they have been more a symptom than a cause.

Across the whole club for me, no expensive buy policy, tactical plan going wrong, players either not good enough and or not trying, relegation has been on cards last few seasons but at this rate we,ll be down before xmas
The bottom line is if we get relegated this season we get £50m. Next season the bottom club gets £100m.

Can't quote Colback mate, he was adamant he was leaving regardless of new contracts offered, he was swayed by the dark side.
As for Fletcher, Graham, Bridcutt and Buckley, etc, who the **** in their right mind would take them on? oh aye, i forgot, US.The best we could hope for is to offload them to a Championship side at best.
Lets not forget he did get shot of Dozy and brought in Defoe for next to nowt.
I agree that Colback is a **** but the club let his contract run right down before trying to get him to sign a new one, opening the door for other clubs to come in and get him for nowt. We managed the whole situation poorly he should have been sold the summer before if he wasn't going to sign a contract, to be honest I think Congerton only came in half way through that season so he shouldn't take any blame for this situation I suppose.
Getting rid of Fletch and the rest of the plodders is difficult but at the end of the day it's a big part of his job and he's just not doing it tbh, and I dare say he is very well paid to do his job so I'd expect him to be performing better in his role than he is quite frankly.
I don't want to be misunderstood here, I don't just blame Congerton but he's certainly (along with the previous director of football) got to take a fair chunk of responsibility for the failings at the club over the last few years, he's obviously got a very hard job but that's no excuse for being **** at it.
Looking back at the last 5 years say, there is a core crew running through the team that would appear to be calling the shots. This may not be true but it would certainly appear that way. Cattermole, O'Shea, Brown, Larsson, Fletcher, Johnson, etc, etc. The club has consistently under performed with these so called professionals in the squad.
Several Managers have all tried and failed, they can't all be that bad at their jobs, maybe this core crew are running the ship? If PDC was anything to go by, despite being a complete utter loon, then maybe there's some truth in what he was saying?

The core, the rotten core, the old guard, the common denominator. Call it what you will but they`ve been there throughout and it`s a fairly safe assumption they were the ones who went crying about PDC.

Agreed - but I'd remove O'Shea and Brown. They came and tried to change the culture and pros gave up ,in the end but don't see them as ringleaders.
Catts, Larsson, Johnson afre the three for me that need to go - and quickly. When they don't give an arse neither do the team. When they try...guess what!

Yup. That is the ****ing problem. Not Short, Conger or the hoard. It's the ****ing ****ers who pull in the strip who should be lynched.
Not sure how widespread it runs mate, but my guess is that there is a rotten core and they seem to be running the show on the training ground and out on the pitch.
I like Cattermole, he's my type of old fashioned player who just rolls his sleeves up and gets stuck in. That said, i can't help but feel that he is part of the problem, i hope i'm wrong like but there is definitely something wrong between all of the past managers and the core crop of players.
I tend to agree with Malaga and the two ex Mun Utd players tried to change things round, could be wrong though.
Bottom line is this. We could be in deep ****, we're not yet, it's only two games in but we can't let this slide continue. Ellis Short is the man in charge and needs to do something fast. Either back the manager or watch his club go down the tubes and he's only got two weeks to do it.

Is Ellis Short not a very successful venture capitalist who has made his money by risk taking in the business world of which he is very knowledgable - thats his successful mindset which we cannot really criticise.
In football that mindset and risk taking only works if you have access to football acumen - lacking here - why not DA as DOF/coach with LC outed and a manager from within the club - my (considered& emotional) extreme view/suggestion but we are in extremely challenging times - serious thoughts please - but try not too emotional

Sign a player and he has to be given a cast iron contract guaranteeing payment for the lenght of that contract. If he becomes no good to us, but we may get half of his wage paid by a loan club. Appoint a manager who does not perform you have to pay until he takes another appointment. At the time we made our current signings/appointments they were choice of those who wanted them. Bridcutt was good enough to play for Real Madrid according to Poyet. Finance is strangling football as a whole but in our case past signings and appointments are still a financial drain that has to be addressed today. However it may be helpful if they would publish a list of those players we have approached but turned us down.
