    It's a mix of many.

Injuries to key players, the sale of a potent striker, suspensions and Pardew trying to do his best with the remainder.

A fully fit team albeit without Carroll would turn some losses into draws.

Two wins, six points, safety, strengthen over the summer and game on.

Spot on OT. Couldn't have put it better myself. IMO 2 wins(42 points) would be just about enough but I think we might reach 45/44 with Blackpool, Wolves, West Brom and Birmingham all winnable games.

Which game do you think will see us clear and able to stop biting out finger nails?

Not that I ever doubted that we wouldn't stay up of course.

Hopefully we'll have 42 points after the Villa game, then it will be then.

Yes, it would be a bit disappointing if we didn't pick up the 3 points at home to Wolves.

I went for the injury/suspension and lack of quality options. Now I'm not saying we don't have quality in the first team, but some of our backup players are not even top half championship standard.

I've got a horrible feeling we won't be mathematically safe until after the Brom game on 7th May.

Theres a few reasons but I reckon the outstanding reasons are the injuries and suspensions to players we could really do with mixed with the fact that our squad lacks quality in certain areas, particularly up front, I think if we had two quality strikers game in game out we would still be pushing europe at the moment.

Best has done very well since Carroll left but to say he should be first choice striker is a bit over the top, and Ameobi is hit and miss with injuries and form, Lovenkrands is just truly awful and Ranger never gets a chance.

In the summer I would hang onto Best and Ranger (two which have shown the most promise IMO) and get two new quality strikers, dont know who.

We need tweaking in other areas such as perhaps a more commanding CB to partner Colo an eventual replacement for Nolan, and a new creative winger or AM wouldnt go a miss either.

The next match is pivotal game v3.0 since Everton.

    We need points now.

Screw the possibility of Europa as it's a pipe dream.

Points to further the gap between us and relegation.

    Pass the pipe though...

Think everyone forgot about Europe, when the semi-final cup draw happened.

I personally blame William Tell, I wish him and his overture would just feck off.
