He actually said "a bit" & that he'd also be looking at loan deals. "There have been a million names linked to the club and the brutal honesty of it is that ninety nine per cent of those we havenât been thinking about" âBut there will be a bit of money to spend and hopefully we can get one or two loans in, if thatâs possible, to reinforce the group.â
Rodgers should just come out and say he intends spending a shed load of money on players in the transfer window
As Dave said we'll see the reality in 2 months time. Its interesting to pass the time speculating among ourselves & I'm sure its fun for the opposition to use inconsistencies they think they've spotted to make snide remarks at us (no Tobes, that's not a reference to you as you quoted accurately the same article I read & took it to mean the same as I did, at least on the surface anyway) it could be the truth, it could be bollox. Think most of us are in agreement we aren't signing Messi & Ronaldo on 5 year deals for 200 million in January though...
Been told by someone reliable there is plenty of money available but its up to the team when it is spent. January or the Summer. Rodger's thinks Summer is better as get more value for money so its expected he'll wait till Summer rather than overpay now. His recent comments seem to back up what I've been told as lately he has been dumbing down January expectations by talking about not wholesale change and loan deals and has also mentioed next Summer a bit and strengthening then too. From what I've heard and read I reckon we'll bring in a good forward and a wide player on loan for about a total cost of £12-15m, then in Summer we'll strengthen a lot more then when BR thinks he can get better deals. There's also a possibility we could sign someone for the Summer in January on a pre-contract agreement.
I doubt there's many clubs who set their summer budgets in December the previous year, as there's a whole host of variables that can affect the club between now & then, cup runs, league placings, European qualification etc etc. Your 'mate' isn't off twitter is he per chance?
Even if he had a massive budget, he'd be a total plank to admit it now. Personally, I doubt that he'll have much to play with in Jan & he might do a bit of 'dealing' where he can, to increase his available funds. The Jan market is always tough, as any high profile players always fetch a premium. I'll have you a wager that Darren Bent on loan with a view to buy is one of your Jan deals
for me i will do precisely what werner said and judge actions not words. if you beleive anything any of them are saying you are a fool whoever you are..... if lfc sign a striker for 25mil fine... if they sing one on a free.. fine if they spend 5mil total on a full back not fine... judge by actions only. simply put we all know what we need... rodgers is mouthing off about small squads and such and then progress and someone else is then quoting him. who knows what the real situation is in his mind.... the enitre thing is judge not on sound bites but on real hard actions. FSG will be judged by what cash is available, by what actually is done now on anfield. ROdgers will be judged simply by results, not football style etc... if he buys and improves good if he wastes moeny its not good... if he doesn't buy and gets lucky that suarez scored 30 goals or something then he's quids in i suppose.
The national Journos who are mates with the Artist Formerly Knows As Duncan Jenkins. Think most people have figured out which ones these are by now. There is a lot of misinformation going out to keep the waters muddied. Main targets upto know seem to be Sturridge, Walcott and Ince. Club not sure if Sturridge is still viable with all the Managerial change there last week.
due respect but utter bollox... if you tell me the weel reported 15mil is the budget and dress it up like we're going to spend a fortune i nthe summer? utter rot.
Apparently advanced talks to resign Ince: @thisisanfield: Tony Barrett at The Times reporting Liverpool are in advanced talks to re-sign Tom Ince from Blackpool. So there's one of the 2-3. Which Striker then?
Re-signing Tom Ince? Silly. We shouldn't have let him go if we needed him. I'll believe that when I see it. I'd take Bent on loan or permanently (short term contract of 2-3 yrs). I've never really liked him as a player, but he can find the net reliably and that's what we need.
Got to say I'm surprised by that given the issues he had. Maybe a move down has kicked his arse into gear a bit and made him realise he needed to pick his game up more.
I know Ibe is young but is him, sterling, and ince all pretty similar players? Strange that we would just turn around and buy him back like that?
