Just seen Rob Edwards has been sacked by Wolves! I thought he was there to bring them back up as relegation was inevitable when he took over !

Someone we’ve never heard of as it went so well last time!

Joking aside, feels like we need someone experienced at Premier League or top flight level. Thomas Frank would’ve been my number one, but he’s apparently ruled himself out of any jobs this summer. Worth giving him a call though. Someone like a Nuno Espírito Santo or Sean Dyche? The football won’t be free flowing, but they’d give us a better chance of staying up for a couple of years, which is key. Danny Rohl could be a good dark horse shout, but not Premier League proven.

I’d take a rising star from Europe. We’re a Premier League club with money and new facilities. We’ll be an attractive destination for many managers.

I’ve seen both Solskjær and Gary O’Neil heavily rumoured. I think both would be a mistake. We need to aiming much higher than them otherwise we’d be downgrading our manager.
You would take Dyche or Nuno but wouldn’t take O’Neil?

I’d argue he’d be a great addition for you, if you were somehow able to persuade him to take the job.

I do think it will be OGS, which I would not be against.

I guess he’d almost be the continuity candidate, in that he’s close with McKenna and has seen us play a few times. I’m sure McKenna would’ve recommended OGS, if he was asked.

He did alright at Manchester United, but I think he underperformed at Cardiff, Molde (the second time), and Besiktas. In his defence, he knows the Premier League and how a big club should operate - the same mentality and know how that Kieran brought to us. Personality wise, he’s got that calmness that I think plays well with Town fans.

It feels underwhelming to me, but we could do a lot worse I guess.

For me, O’Neil doesn’t feel like an exciting appointment. He did okay keeping Bournemouth up, but Iraola did a much better job with that team. He did well keeping Wolves up, but had a terrible second season and got criticism for his tactics. Even we managed to beat Wolves that season and we didn’t have many wins!

Dyche and Nuno have a much longer record of keeping teams up and solidifying Premier League status (Forest and West Ham aside last season).

I think this is a really tough appointment, I think we had an uphill battle next season anyway and my concerns which I had about the quality of our team have doubled.

Performances last season weren't great on the whole and we didn't click as a team. My optimism for next season came from the feeling that McKenna would have learnt from the previous seasons and many of the players we've got would now start to understand his methods better well that's now out of the window. Some of the particularly forward line he's brought in feel like McKenna projects and I'm really not sure how many of them are good enough for the PL and they didn't perform well as a team last season, so to add a new manager into that will be a challenge.

Last time we went up I felt our biggest strength was the fact our team had been together for 2 years, were a well oiled machine and whilst would need adding too that was a strength, again that went out of the window when we signed loads of players and pretty quickly bombed those promotion heroes out of the team.

I'm completely split on this, I'm warming to the idea of Solskjær, feels a bit like a continuity candidate but also one who seems to have the right temperament for pressure. But doesnt have a great managerial record outside of Man Utd. Many of the other contenders again similar in terms of youth and style of player to McKenna but I have seen in them not reacting well to pressure.

Then part of me thinks given where we are with the playing squad (in my view not good enough) why not get someone like Dyche in who with a bit of money on players could get us solid and potentially over the line especially given the football the past season and a half has been pretty boring anyway.

Phil at TWTD is strongly suggesting Kjetil Knutsen from Glimt,we could do worse just a question of how he'd adapt to the PL?

And watching this video I'm just hoping MA can get it done!

I saw loads of comments on TWTD saying no thanks, no Prem experience etc etc. The man has got fecking Champions League experience for Christ sake!!
Why not someone like that, personally I'm all for it and he will know a lot about players in Scandinavia, might bring a few gems with him!!

Part of me is concerned that the interest Knutsen is a little like awarding a premier league job to a non League manager because of a giant killing run in the FA Cup.

But most of me thinks it's exactly the sort of profile we should be looking for. But until he signs it's just rumors

Never heard of him till 2 days ago so I’ll not pretend I have any insight, I’ll ’trust The process’ and presume Ashton and co have been on this for a while and are now performing due diligence.
