It's strange how some forums or sites seem to attract these types of posters. Thankfully, here on not606, the Pompey and Saints membership is made up almost entirely of those on a higher plain, who enjoy friendly banter without the hatred demonstrated by those in the Echo article. To any-one wishing Pompey to die (and I acknowledge that is a small minority of even Saints fans on not606) I would put it to you that Pompey and Saints need each other in the same way as Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty, Penelope Pitstop and The Hooded Claw or Doctor Who and the Master. Without one, the other would find a void where they once had a purpose.
This. This is a much more respecting and dignified site than the original 696. Well done to all the mods and other Users for making it what is is today
I'm really glad he posted this article actually. Shame it's on the wrong forum, elsewhere it would go down very well, with some people. Anyone for tennis?
Waiting to fill the void are Reading and Brighton both well resourced and managed clubs who have a very bright future. No one is irreplaceable not even the Queen, the PM or the USA President. I'll cry a few tears at Pompey's death and then move on. That is life.
That is almost exactly what you might have heard about 20 years ago when walking through the precinct in Southampton, as you passed the now demolished offices of our local rag. A fine paper, which is accurate in every particular, except those of which you have some personal knowledge.
Because readandwhite we do not want to stoop to their level. I agree they didn't show much sympathy in our darkest hours but there is no need for us to do the same to them, we are better than that. I would hate a world without Pompey, and have a great deal of sympathy for the true fans who have followed them through thick and thin.
