1976 FA Cup and annoying commentator kept saying our full back was David Page, It was David Peach you numpty!
No mate only when it has this(é) do you say "tay" when it hasn't got this(fonte) is font,so imagine if josé fonte's name was like Jos Fonte(Jos Font) if it was José Fonté(Josay fontay) its José Fonte (Josay Fontay).
I thought it was about times someone typed a font gag! Talking about commentators, I remember a few years back Motson exclaiming, "YOU COULDN'T PROGRAM A BETTER SCRIPT!!" and hence being the first commentator to acknowledge the democratization of digital authorship, brought about by the cyber-age...whist simultaneously forward slashing his pants at his cleverness.
Brazilians use this expression all the time, Que saco! when something mildy pees them off. I couldn't explain to my wife what thread was so that was as near as I could get! Another one I like is Né, short for Não é, they never ever tire of saying Né né né!
yeah I know some brazilians where I live and I sometimes ask myself if they are speaking Portuguese because sometimes i have no idea on what they are saying!they also say "Cara" as in man/mate.they are funny people always taking it easy.
Jose Fonte lives in England. We didn't fight two world wars so foreigners could come over here and impose their pronounciations on us..Fontay it is!
By far the most annoying commentator's foible is Motty's inability to string more than two sentences together without saying "1966". Talk about living in the past! Up here they run sweepstakes in the pubs before England games to see how quickly he says it. Only 60 tickets are ever available, 1st second, 2nd second, 3rd second etc! There is also an advertising campaign for Irn-Bru showing an old boy saying "I had my first Irn-Bru in 1966, but I don't go on about it!"
For Bart: Bartoz Beelkovskee is how I say it. In the SP interview with Nigel I have no idea what he was trying to say. Beeowlowskowskee? Hmm... Any native Pols (or Portuguese) on here who can help us with the pronunciation. I notice no accents so there will be no Fonte/Fonté issue.
Always thought Fonte was pronounced Fontay - is this not the case? Have I been living a lie all this time?
