Out with a whimper. Really frustrating and disappointing. It's very difficult to see what Lendl has brought to the table. If anything, Murray seems to be going backwards. At least my tips, Djokovic and Sharapova, are still in there.
Murray gone in four........never looked in control at any time..........how will he ever win a grand-slam......I doubt it will ever happen.
I said a few month back that I can no longer see him winning a slam, he just doesn't have the killer touch when playing the very best and as Sterio has already said if anything his form has dipped this year. Lendl does not seem to have added anything to Andy's game. I don't see there is much wrong with Andy's game when he is serving well but even this fails him at times. I don't think Andy believes in himself enough. The seach goes on for a British player with the right mindset.
Despite Murray failing to match his last-four appearance of 2011 the Scot was still pleased with his overall performance in Paris. "I think it was a good tournament for me" he said. "I probably wasn't feeling as good as I did coming in last year. I lost to a better clay-court player than me." Murray had not beaten the world number six in their previous three meetings on clay, and he did not help his chances of halting that run by making 59 unforced errors during the match. "I'll need to work on some things in my clay-court game for next year," continued Murray. "But it's not the first time he's won against me on clay. It was going to be a tough match for me, and it proved that way. "I thought I played some good tennis. I just didn't convert." You're right LaLa. These aren't the words of a winner. I suspected he was going to lose to Ferrer when I saw the draw end of last week but having heard his pre-match interview in which he basically said he was just happy to have gotten this far it pretty much confirmed it. You cannot go into a match against another top 10 player thinking like that. With apologies to any English readers but he needs a bit of the old Jock Wallace spirit about him. A few weeks running up and down the sand dunes at Seton Sands in the pouring rain would soon toughen him up!
Sharapova just looks so superior to the rest when she's on song, only current woman who could ever get in the top 50 in my opinion due to her power. Glad the brute Stosur went out too Also glad Murray went out as I personally hate the bloke (dont care about the british blahblah), can't look past Nadal really though. Would've loved Tsonga to go through, seems a nice bloke.
Nadal beats Ferrer 6-2 6-2 6-1 Unless Nadal and Djokovic retire or suffer serious injury in the next couple of years then anyone who believe Murray has any chance of winning a Slam needs to seek immediate psychiatric attention.
Ferrer blown away on his best surface.......best if Andy gives Paris a miss in future and concentrates on preparing for Wimbledon.
Federer 2 sets down now, looks out of sorts after his great start to the 2nd, he was 2 breaks up. Still think neither of these hold a chance against Nadal.
Frankly I'm amazed Federed is still doing as well as he is, how long has this guy been at the top of his game?
Personally I prefer Nadal but what Federer has done is unbelievable, 16 grand slams, 4 years as no.1, he is obviously one of the best of all time, i'm not sure if he is the best, but he certainly gives a good argument And Djokovic wins in straight sets...still think Nadal should win fairly easily, hard to believe Rafa is only 26, could defo get 10 French opens in his lifetime, certainly best clay player of all time
I tipped Djokovic (and Sharapova ) and I'm still tipping the Serb. He hasn't been at his best this tournament but he has that never-say-die attitude that the likes of Murray lack. Should be a cracking final though.
Nadal is just so good here though...I thought Ferrer was actually playing well but Rafa demolished him
