Cardiff striker Emiliano Sala was on board of a missing plane that vanished
A Piper Malibu plane with two people on board was travelling from Nantes in France to Cardiff last night.

However, Guernsey Police confirmed it disappeared from radar near the Casquets lighthouse at about 20:30 GMT.

It has since emerged Sala, who signed for Cardiff on Saturday, could have been on board.
According to the BBC, there is ‘genuine concern’ at Cardiff over Sala’s whereabouts and the club are seeking clarification.

A search and rescue operation was launched last night but stopped due to worsening conditions.

HM Coastguard said the incident was not in the UK search and rescue area, but had sent two helicopters to help.

"HM Coastguard are currently assisting Guernsey Coastguard with a search for a light aircraft off Alderney in the Channel Islands," a spokeswoman said.

"HM Coastguard helicopters from Solent and Newquay have been helping to search overnight with nothing found."

Sala signed for relegation strugglers Cardiff over the weekend for £15million.

He returned to France on Monday to say his goodbyes to his teammates and pick up his belongings.

The 28-year-old was then due to take part in training with his new club at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel in Hensol, South Wales.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock had been delighted to sign him.

He said: ”It's around £15m, which is a lot.

"But when you look in the Championship, that's what strikers cost.

“I like him, he's a hard worker."

Obviously it is not funny and I hope everything is ok, everyone is safe. But **** me <laugh> 15m on your biggest ever transfer and his plane goes missing? You couldn't write it.

What would worry me if I was a Cardiff fan is Warnock talking about what Championship strikers cost. Sounds like he has written it off already.

The only person I can think of is chubby Johnson. But don't think he retired that early?

Nee way I could guess that, had to google it. That's a good ****ing question that. Which leads me on to one posed to me recently....I couldn't guess this one either !!
