Update. Drove back from a family get together in Liverpool and there were not many in the local. So I dragged my dear wife and a couple of friends down into the beer garden. A handful of locals were in and the lovely barmaid. So nice to see people again and have a proper pint.
Pissheads, thousands of 'em! Wait till we see the whites of their eyes Lads! They would have won if they kept their eyes closed....
It'll just take a few weeks for people to remember that the majority of pubs are, in fact, ****. Then it'll be back to the depressingly normal
Before lockdown there were around a dozen pub closures a week ... ... now it seems that they're all precious places that we can't live without.
Spent the whole day in and around bars on the Quayside, nowhere was overly busy, no bother anyway, quite well ran in terms of distancing and a very pleasant atmosphere through the day. Folk can think what they like but human interaction is important, and it was great to have the choice and to just be out and about.
I so so wanted to go out. General consensus seems to be pubs in Sunderland town centre were fairly sensible. Local pubs on the estates my mates attended were full with little social distancing observed.
That doesn’t surprise me, I dunno what the ‘locals’ were like here as I live in the centre, but the folk coming into town later on after 3 were all a lot more tanked up than those who’d been in town. Was actually a really relaxed day, I think the patchy weather helped massively with the bars and the adjustment.
