Pretty difficult to say who's done the best business until we're about 5 games into the season as only then we can properly judge how the new signings will help the team

Last year I was pretty chuffed with our 2 new signings, but we were ****ing awful

All good fun gentlemen. Looking forward to a tough season. If we stay up it will be a great season for us.

Think Swansea have added real quality but agree with elcie009 that playing European football will actually affect their league position negatively and whilst they wont get relegated Im not sure a club and squad of that size will cope with the multiple extra games easily, although I'd add, its a position Id be very happy for us to be in. Norwich have, for me, done the best business and all those you list are good signings on paper but one of the ones you omitted may be the best longer term; Nathan Redmond. Assuming he starts regularly I'd expect him to be outstanding. Two footed, pacey and direct, a really exciting prospect; I hoped PDC might have been interested. If Redmond does start regularly, then Id expect him to push for an England call up later in the season as hes far better than the massively over-rated likes of Lennon who offers pace and little else. It being a world cup year (299 days to go but who's counting) Redmond may have taken the step up at just the right time to exactly the right sort of club where he may get regular starts unlike the likes of Sinclair (like AJ before him) who should be heading for the world cup but were badly advised in my mind and sold out for money. Spurs have brought in 3 huge signings of which i dont know much about but if they lose Bale, it'll only take one of them to get injured and another of them not to adapt quickly to British football and I can see them going backwards given the number of squad players they have released this summer.

I think City should hope for a little bit more than survival mate.

Norwich for me, very astute this window. No idea how it will work, but good on paper.

Shouts for Swansea, Chelsea and Man City too, who have signed some players who without doubt have improved their squads.

Hard to comment on you lot, 10 signings is a lot, could go either way I suppose, but the revamp was needed after a few seasons with massively over rated managers and some awful signings.. I obviously think my beloved Saints signed well, but I always think this, so will leave the judging to others! (Wanyama is a tank though!, and played very well today:D)

Newcastle, West Brom and Arsenal all look the same or worse than last year. But Arsenal have done the worst given their PPP in the market!

Impossible to tell this early on ofcourse however!

Think that relegation won't be as tight as last season too. Palace to go down then 2 of Hull, Cardiff, Stoke and West Brom (theres always a suprise??)

    Funny on SSN:

Merson before KO: "I don't think Wanyama is worth £12m"

Merson during the game when asked about Wanyama: "I fink he's worth £20m"

    Knob <laugh>

For the record I think 12m on a defensive midfielder for a club of your stature (don't take that the wrong way, we're in the same boat) is a bit too much as although he'll do a good job defensively he won't win you games through a piece of magic etc.

Think you should have a good season

Yeah Merson is widely hated amoungst us Saints. Not only an outspoken moron, but also wears blue.
I think of our clubs as similar in size, and like Sunderland as there are far too many Newcastle fans where I live ( in BRIGHTON!!!).

12m is a gamble, but with the bumper amount of money in the Prem it's hardly suprising. Also his age guarentee's resale value.

I don't agree with the club size bit. We are in a group chasing the top 7 in the league, the same as you. And I bet you get pissed off when people say little ole Sunderland, despite having a big stadium and massive fan base, like us Saints.

No idea how well us or you will fare but I think 7 -13th will be Everton, Swansea, Norwich, West Ham, Us, You, Newcastle. In which order who knows, but in the same mini league none the less!

Good luck for the rest of the season. Apart from next week where we will smash you 10-0 as it's my first game as an ST holder :D

You have to remember that it's a marathon not a sprint, but the first 4 miles have gone better than expected......

I think you'll stay up. I'll only be sure we will when it's mathematically certain.
