Averaging a goal every 2 games in the best club in the country is not a world class striker. Yes he is good, very good but not in a league with Aguero who has 8 in 5, in his debut PL season.

Rooney has only had one prolific season in his career 09/10, so stop creaming your pants over him

Please. Its easy to say you should score for a team like that but thats too simple. Without Rooney their play would not be as quick and will not have the same flow that his link up play gives them. He does all that and scores the goals he does. Too say he is not in the same league as Aguero is aslo absurd. Cleary two class forwards who matching each other at this level right now.

Rooney is also a very complete footballer. In his time at United he has had many roles and has done them all to a top level. A mark of any great player for me is how they can change and adapt to different teams and players and Rooney does that.

Aguero is an out and out goalscorer, does nothing ANYWHERE else, yet what is his best tally for goals in a year? exactly, just another ballotelli

Tbh I thought Aguero's record at Athletico was patchy. Yes it was nearly 1 goal every 2 games....well he's certainly proved me wrong! Calling him signing of the season though....don't think you can do that if he cost 38m <laugh>

Rooney! He's a far more complete player than Aguero. He puts his body on the line, links up with the midfield, scores goals, creates chances and you'll often see him covering at full back. Aguero just doesn't do that!

Don't get me wrong, Aguero is a world-class striker, but just that. He's not a shadow on Rooney's all-round play.

    ROOOONEEEEYYYY

I agree. That's like calling Ronaldo signing of the season for only £80m!

Joey Barton's got to be up there as signing of the season. Class player.

I wouldn't have either. We've got Adam Lallana. Apparently he plays on the left and on the right and, in the process, makes Messi look s***e.

Rooney's more pwerful and slightly more versatile. He would suit arsenal better.

However Aguero is the more talented.
