Why is Captainchaos not in the poll when he is the most obvious choice?

De Jong is hands down the most natural leader. However Gini on basis he stays fit

Because his mum wrote to McLaren saying he doesn't play well with others.

I'm cool with that. He's always been a Toon fan, played for SAFC and honoured their shirt well, now plays for us to fulfil his dream.

There's a bit of bitterness over the water though so I hear...

  5. He seems my sort of captain tbh. Works hard, shows heart, desire and passion with a never say die attitude.

    Similar to our Flanno ;)

Colback isn't the most gifted by far mind. Vut he runs through brick walls and every team needs a grafter IMHO.

Exactly this, Colback will more than likely finish his career with us too. Give him the captaincy when Colo leaves I say

Colback has a quiet, reserved personality. I don't think he's captain material, and besides I wouldn't say he's a guaranteed starter even now, let alone with a future squad which we should be looking to build.

Agree. That's the bigger issue. No way should he be guaranted to start every match. Making him captain would be a risky move.

The lad gives it 100% more often than not. We cant say that about the majority of our squad, (especially this season.) I reckon giving him the captaincy would only enhance his efforts.

Colback wouldn't even be in my team let alone as captain. Someone will be along soon enough mentioning Saylor
should be captain for all same reasons as Colback!

I think Colback is getting some unfair stick here - he may have not been at his best this year but he put in some good performances last year and he doesn't seem to go missing completely the way some of our players do. I also think it is easier for someone playing a more holding midfield role to be a captain whereas I wouldn't want to burden Wijnaldum with the captaincy and find he is not being able to bomb forward as much because of it.

Like I say, he wouldn't be in my team! Anita is far superior! Not as a captain like. As for Gini, he managed to do it for PSV successfully and still score shed loads of goals!

Colback is a decent squad player. As is Anita. They are both regular starters for us and its a big problem. Personally I'd flog Anita and replace him with proper ball player. Then I'd get a proper holder to replace Colback. Colback ticks the HG box and will do a solid job but for me he isn't good enough to be starting every week. Anita I've ran out of patience with. He has had a fair crack this season and hasn't pulled up any trees, gone missing plenty.

Colback is nothing more than a squad player who is to be used sparingly when needed. Anita - He is tidy, works hard and has good games, but he isn't good enough. Too similar to Colback and if it was a choice between the two, i'd keep Colback primarily because of he's a local lad and offers more. I'd also get rid of Tiote - he's pants.

Taylor is a Geordie so should be made at least Vice captain :)

If Beardo can still play (at left back) then he MUST be captain.
