I would almost certainly (with this being hypothetical and my never having been tested I can't be 100% sure) 'give' for Mrs. A. or my kids, and I would likewise risk 'all' for a few others . . . . you, Smug, being one of them :emoticon-0105-wink:

Imagine being at a match where there's a threat . . . . would you 'run' or would you stand 'side by side' with your mates (and when I'm at the match, especially an away game, every single Sunderland supporter is my mate) ?

Some would be different, but I wouldn't hesitate to stand, and risk 'all' with Smug and any of the other three that he mentioned (or a few others like his boy, Graham, and the lads that I (used to, as it is now :emoticon-0101-sadsm) sit with at every home game :emoticon-0148-yes:

Away from football there are only a few that I would run the risk for, including my mate, John, who I grew up with and accompanied me on my bike ride yesterday . . . . who actually said during that ride that he would trust me with his life (that's spooky) :emoticon-0100-smile

I always feel sorry for police who chase down some scumbag car thief then give CPR when they crash.

It's an age thing in many ways.

I'd give my life for my granddaughter who's not yet started school, but not my brother who's older than me ...

    ... he's had his chance <laugh>

I signed up to serve my Queen and Country and I suppose by doing that, I would have given my life for my nation. Not sure what has become of this once great nation so **** em, they had their chance and I'm still here.

I would only give my life for the the three great ladies in my life; my wife and two beautiful daughters.

In fairness so did I. But not much chance of carking it underneath a Land Rover changing a clutch like!

I would hope, I have enough love, compassion and empathy to risk my life for almost anyone, I would certainly lay my life down for the people I love.

It is a difficult question to answer truthfully, it could well be one of those in the moment fight-or-flight decisions.

I have in my extended family some horrible ****ers – evil sociopaths, that their existence has created more harm than good. I could quite easily dispose of them if I had to… the question is would that make me a sociopath?

To take the question further in a philosophical way- could you kill someone you love? It could be to administer a mercy death (as in euthanasia) to someone who is suffering terribly?

    All difficult questions to ponder.

It's all down to fight or flight I guess. If i saw anyone in trouble i would do owt i could to help them out.

Once helped 3 strangers out of a flipped car which had caught on fire. Luckily they were all still conscious so could help themselves as well. Dont think I could have lived with myself if they had all died and I'd just stood by and watched. That being said if some madman had a gun to their heads I wouldn't have taken their place.
