Well, that was my interpretation of it. I think your analysis of the gaps is right but I'm not sure Jenson has agreed to be a number two though, no pun intended.
I think this is right. Button surely knows his chances of the title are gone down, so his set his sights on beating his team mate again, he can't do that if he's given a support role for the last six races which is why he's playing down Hamilton's chances.
