no one. believe it when it happens <ok>

since we lost lambert we have struggled to bring in a striker. maybe hoskins and harrold but rest havent really been that impressive. we use to be able to always have a top striker at our club but we havent had this for a while. even before lambert it was a while before we had someone decent up front. why do we struggle now?

'Cos we're crap!

You're right, we've generally had a quality striker at the club, who we then have to sell.

Normally, I'm not a fan of loanees, but we have no choice as Clarkson and Richards just aren't going to get us the goals we need to climb the table. I do think that MM will get someone decent in <ok>

i hope you are right. championship striker? who mcghee thinks will do the job? experienced as well as mcghee said team too young and needs help. if such a striker exists then why are the championship side letting go? i use city as an example. pittman looks like he wont get a look in. he would be a great loan for us. but i think he could do the job for another championship side or any league 1 side. why would he want to drop to 91st in the table? my point being why would any championship striker who fits mcghees description want to even come to us? may be different if we were in gillinghams position but we are currently same standard as barnet! i hope you are right baldee. i just cant see it though.

Northampton would be insane to loan us Akinfenwa, but I'd be well happy. A real handful up front and a consistent scorer at this level.

Won't happen though :embarrassed:

Possibly the fattest player I have ever seen play professional football though <laugh>

Edit: I didn't know this, but he is actually built like a heavyweight boxer :emoticon-0104-surpr

Serious question guys.....how do you think your season will pan out?
A bad start for sure, but do you think your sqaud is good enough to turn it around? You have a good manager in place so what is missing? Goals seem to be a problem at the moment, but you have shipped a few as well. Having said that and looking at the league, you have had some tough games of late.
How will the board and fans react if the current form goes on for a few weeks more? (If it was our lot they would already be burning effigies of Del!)
Is there money available or is it loanees on the cards?
Not a wum, just interested in local footy!........

i said from the start that with the team we had and injuries had and mistakes mcghee made in pre season (chasing after constable since may then deciding we dont need another striker) we wont start picking up proper points until after 8 games as pre season was a disaster, it would take 8 games or so to get started. however with the lack of a striker and harrolds injury and the very inexperience keepers we have, add to that an overweight unfit defender and 2 slow defenders in virgo and paterson and no one in midfielder who can get stuck in, i now am rethinking. i think more likely 15 games to get going. meaning if you offered me 15th - 22nd i would take it.
mcghee has made too many mistakes and been unlucky with injuries, i think we dont have enough quality to end higher than 12th.

everyone who i know who are gasheads, all want mcghee to stay and dont want more managers. need to stick it out with mcgee. the board keeps saying in public there is money available for loans but mcghee is choosing not to use it as waiting for the right player who will improve us and enhance us. that makes sense. but he then brings in a keeper from fulham who has played no 1st team games at all in the league not even on loan. how will a keeper with no experience improve us?

I agree with CJS.

And also, Virgo really is an enigma.

Expensively educated at the private Ardingly College, who counts the likes of Ian Hislop and the inimitable actor Terry-Thomas as former pupils, he was superb for Brighton, has loads of Championship experience and commanded a transfer fee of £1.5 million when he moved to Celtic.

Now at 29, he should be at the peak of his game as a defender, instead he's mediocre at best and calamitous at worst. I just don't understand what's up with the man.
