I'm more worried about playing PSV in the 'friendlies' ................ that could be a massacre if were no careful. Moreso, a bad score could undo any good JFH builds over the summer. I don't understand the reason / what's in it for us, to play them.
That would be my preferred option. There is a certain pub crying out for a return visit from me! However, we WILL start with a visit to Windy Miller at Millmoor (I don't care what they call their new ground). And what's more, I can't remember us not winning at Rotherham!
I have to say Nines I'm blown away by the superb quality of guessing on this thread. Some of these combos would only have occurred to me once in every forty six guesses!
Of course Stan, 46/1 (or is it 45/1) are the standard odds, but when you factor in whether we are due a home or away game, the amount of times we start against a side beginning with B, the amount of times we start away to a promoted club etc. IT BECOMES VERY SCIENTIFIC! Perhaps we should have waited until Sky had announced who they wanted to play against each other on the first weekend! I'm going for Leeds - Villa & Derby - Newcastle.
That's an excellent observation my friend. You see what is at work here, on the face of it, appears to be relatively simple. But the truth of it is, is that everyone who has made a guess is channelling their inner genius. Whether they're consciously aware of it or not. It can be summed up thus - Inclusive events are football matches that can be guessed before the season begins. To find the probability of a fixture we first add the probabilities of the individual games and then subtract the probability of the two games happening at the same time. This can be determined by this very simplistic mathematical equation. P(XorY)= P(X)+P(Y) P(XandY) It's far more complicated than that of course, but I've proffered a rather simple showing of my workings so that this thread doesn't stray too far off topic. I think we can do without all the mathematical boffins on here bombarding this thread with their algebraic showing off.
