    Best 3rd placed team thread.
    Cool.
London has always been in Manchester's shadow since 1840 despite government intervention.

HIAG - since this is just a fun league you should consider calculating the places over a longer period to get a better read on the overall form of the clubs. I suggest the current season plus the last two full seasons might work well.

I offer this idea in the usual non-wumming spirit of all your threads.

Because the Sun said you'd won more points? Loving the way you can't let go. <laugh>

    No it doesn't.

In any case, it'd just be something else Spurs never won.

In terms of where the Londoon teams finish in the league this season, I think that could be heavily influenced by the January transfer window. Spurs pay structure and selling history might see some key departures whereas Arsenal and Chelsea fell short on the targets they had in the summer and it would be no surprise to see them pushing the boat out to bring at least one major signing in each.

If the squads were to stay the same I'd take Chelsea to edge it from Spurs (allowing for the 'Wembley factor') with Arsenal, West Ham and Palace in that order ... the last likely relegated.

  9. You don't think that Arsenal is actually in more danger of losing key players rather than attracting them to their sinking ship of a club, what with several key players still refusing to sign contracts, such as Sanchez and Ozil?

I think Sanchez and Ozil are both likely to leave ... and that Arsenal may well improve as 'a team' when they do ...

  11. You could well be right.

Personally, I cannot see them improving massively until they get rid of Wenger. I genuinely do believe that he is the reason why top players will not join that club.

Arsenal has become a club that top players leave, rather than join.

Agree with you on this, and have been saying this for years.
Wenger is not the whole problem, they have massive issues at board level, but Wenger is not helping.
His presence causes toxicity amongst fans who want him out, which puts them at odds with fans who (bizarrely) still want him to stay, and then everything just turns nasty, and the players feel it, the staff can feel it, yet the board don't give a ****.

Might as well calculate the league based on corners won and who wears white shirts at home whilst you’re at it then. <ok>

I'm always interested in statistics which might be better predictors of the future than simple things like trophies won, but on balance I think the ones you mention won't help....

The statistics you mention haven’t helped you to win the league either.

The corners one is actually more likely to help that then a longer period points total, as it might lead to some insight as to why corners were not turned into goals.

Really? You just stated that simple things like winning trophies are less important than some equation you’ve pulled out your arse ie + & - = whatever makes Spurs look like champions but forgot the simple things like winning more points than any other team.

I’d recommend you add wet pitches & the referees wife’s menstral cycle to those equations as you might get nearer. <laugh>

Obviously trophies won is a very good indicator of how good a team was in the past
