I actually think King might fit in more in the PL- attacking midfielders often do, and a goal-scoring midfielder is always an asset. Pearson's also been playing him a fair bit recently in more of a 4-2-3-1 formation, which he may well be testing for next year.

Fair points ... we may well be surprised by how well different players adapt ... certainly there will be more emphasis on technique and less on huffing and puffing ..

As mentioned on another thread - we have a comparatively small squad. Dont expect too many first team squad to be released. Happy GTF has extended his contract, and hope that Hammond stays. Not a chance in hell of King being released. You dont annihilate what is already a small squad. If clubs want to make reasonable offers for some of the fringe players then that is a different kettle of fish. Pearson has built his squad over the last 2 years and I am happy to leave it to him, as to who stays and who goes, and we need to remember that we only see the contribution someone gives over the course of 90 odd minutes a week.

Who will be released by us this summer? That will be the next statement to come from the management soon.

My guess:-
St Ledger, Bakayogo, Miquel, Hammond, Dyer, Taylor-Fletcher & Phillips (Now coaching staff). Plus there may well be some youngsters given their matching orders!

If these 7 players leave then that’s more than NP said he was looking to bring in.
Hammond has a year left on his contract and seems content to be a squad player, same with GTF.

Miquel was on loan until the end of season so will go back to Arsenal.

St Ledger and Bakayogo's contracts are up and won't be extended/

Ones to worry about are Kasper and Nugent.

GTF had a clause saying if he made 20 appearances the club would have to offer him a new contract

Dean Hammond and Zoumano Bakoyogo have 1 year left on their contracts

Zoumano Bakoyogo and Paul Gallagher still have a year left

So does Futacs I think.

Three players that will either have their contracts cancelled by mutual consent (possible in Futacs case) or will be on loan all next season. I don't think Bako and Futacs will be on much, but giving Gallagher another three years was yet another **** up by Sven and one we forget about.
