"The owners were adamant the management team going forward now will have its heart in Hull," added Adam Pearson. "It will be a Hull team and not a manager's team that's brought in and subsequently dismantled. "We're putting together a backroom team that will be with us for many years and if at any point in the future the manager changes, that will be the only change that happens because the rest of the team will remain intact." If this "Hull Team" is to be what Adam says (given Nick and Darren Robinson are both Hull lads) who will be brought in as assistant manager??? For me there is only one name that ticks all the boxes. Mr. Brian Horton.
God i hope not, then we might aswell turn into Newcastle, just smacks of big club syndrome. Brian Horton on the other hand would be a good appointment.
As much as we all love Deano, don't see him as much of a coach. Personally Richard Garcia would make an excellent player coach imo, his game time will be limited after his injury and us having better players.
I love Deano to bits, he is a fan's player. However I REALLY don't think he has what it takes to be a good coach and the size of his personality could well get in the way of the drive and determination NB certainly has. Nobby is a Hull City legend even though he is not from Hull and would definitely fit snugly into the managerial requirement.
Assistant manager needs to have the experience to help Barmby. Cannot see Brian Horton coming back to City as he's still working at Preston with Brownie, however Horton would be my first choice. How about Barmby being manager with Terry Venables as assistant, USE YOUR CONTACTS BARMBY, USE YOUR CONTACTS!!!!!!!!
Terry Venables has no affinity with the club and he is only interested in money. He would be off as soon as he got a better offer. One name that hasn't been mentioned but I don't want either is Graham Taylor who has been a regular visitor at City for quite a while.
I like this idea, Garcia has proved pretty loyal. From what I can make out, the board seem to be looking for people who feel more for the club than the paycheck. Once bit, twice shy comes to mind.
Brian Horton as No.2 is my first choice and Graham Taylor is not a bad shout. GT has much experience for sure. How about getting in Wayne Brown as defensive coach (he still has a home close by i think) Andy Dawson and Richard Garcia should be brought into help out with the reserves. I heard that Adebola has also been helping out there at times. Deano as the striker coach. A Hull boy who would die for the course. i am liking this new approach than the out of towners approach from the past.
TFT do you really think that we need, and the Allams will pay for all of those coaches? Who do you think we should get in as the midfield coach, Ash?
well dawson and garcia are already at the club and they can roll into what barmby had been doing. so we only need Brian Horton in essence. But i doubt that Wayne Brown and Deano would cost that much anyway. I think NB can take care of the midfield. but if city have some money why not Brolly Man ? he was a decent midfielder. lol. and did a good job as coach @ man utd for starters.
What about Paul Ince as assistant to Barmby...........or would he not be considered to be experienced enough? Not necessarily advocating it but if Ince wants to get his coaching/managerial career back on track then he may have to consider a number 2 role as his next move.
The assistant manager will be Steve Wigley. NB thought very highly of him when he was here with Dowie and that is why he has chosen him.
