Like you did when you had Gareth 'Better than Goofy' Bale last season? <whistle>

Oh yes. With this season's defence, yes.Just think...with Goofy and some of our "goal scoring" forwards actually scoring.....

  4. I don't think you'd have many people argue that we'd now be a better side with either Bale or Goofy.

Of the two (assuming we couldn't have both), I'd have Goofy right now, as I believe we have a very strong midfield.

I'd love to see us put in a bid for Goofy, but I am under no illusion that we'd be unable to match Real's bidding.

Southampton must be seething with the amount we received for Bale.

Wasn't our initial deal supposed to be monthly instalments up to £10m plus a sell on fee, but due to their financial problems at the time they asked for/ accepted a £7m up front offer and waived the sell on clause?

    If so... Ouch.

it was something like that. Instead they had to settle for something like £2m as a "development fee". Still, they're having the last laugh with the football they are playing currently

We also gave them Tommy Forecast as part of the settlement deal. He was a reserve keeper for us and somehow Levy managed to persuade/con Saints into believing he was worth £1 million.

Yeah I remember Tommy Forecast, don't think he ended up playing a league game for the Saints did he? Last I checked he was at a non-league club.

    Masterstroke from Levy yet again.

Tommy Forecast is currently at my local Chelmsford City in the Skrill South. Hasn't played in recent games which is just as well as Chelmsford are in a mess at the moment peaking in a 6-0 thumping at home by a then 18th placed Boreham Wood, resulting in Dean Holdsworth (remember him) being sacked after only being in charge since the summer. They also have another former Spurs youth in Mark Hughes and did have Jamie Slabber banging in the goals last year but he left in the summer.

If you added "goofy" that would take your spend to £165million, it doesn't take an Einstein to realise that would make you a better side than us, that's a lot of money.

  13. We are, of course, a better side than you, already (it doesn't take an Einstein to realise that, certainly).

The point I was making, and which you appear to have completely missed, as that we merely need a decent goal-scorer to make us title winners; we don't need Bale back to help us do that. Indeed, he couldn't do that when he was with us.

We need an out-and-out proven goal-scorer, which Goofy is proving to be, this season. 'Pool is lucky to be able to call on his services at present, because he is undoubtedly the only think making your club tick, at the moment. Without him, you'd be below United.

You sure are doing a great job of proving that at the moment, aren't you? You have the stronger squad, best 11 is well up for debate. As for "merely a decent goal-scorer" AVB had a chance to buy one with his £100million but pissed most of it up the wall on Grandad Soldado and Lamela (who?). Also last time I checked, Sturridge had the same number of goals as Suarez, and is joint top scorer in the prem, so hardly reliant on just suarez.

  15. Didn't Sturridge get a 5 match head-start over the toothy-one, though?

  16. Lamela's been home-sick, but his family have now relocated, so expect to see a massive improvement in his performances.

Soldado has, however, proved to be a very expensive mistake for us, so far. Which is why I'd like Goofy in our squad.

Too soon to write either off IMO. Both good players, and could be for Spurs.

You'll know him soon enough. The kid has unbelievable talent, it's just been a mixture of adapting to new surroundings and AVB not seemingly willing to put trust and faith in him at the moment. Roma fans labelled Lamela as the heir to Totti (which was why they were so pissed at losing him - though have done brilliantly without him thus far), no ordinary youngster would get that sort of hype.

Players coming in from abroad need time to adapt, Suarez wasn't massively convincing when he first joined you lot. Come to think of it, it was only last season where he actually shone.

Some I'd agree with on there, others not so.

Pato done the business for AC, got like 50 goals in 100 games.

Reyes has always been a decent player, granted never reached as high as what he probably could have but I think his diving and play antics tarnished what could've been a great career.

Keirrison never really had much hype, more of a youngster with potential. Tim Vickery even mentioned that he wasn't ready for Europe pre-Barca deal.

Ganso and Kezman fair play, never reached the hype, though Ganso has time on his side to change things.
