Also why are the police owed £52k after saying they had been given assurances? Police Statement on Rangers Football Club Published 16 April 2012 Strathclyde Police is issuing the following statement now that it has been confirmed that Rangers Football Club has appointed administrators. âStrathclyde Police is a public body and has a duty to make sure public resources are used appropriately. We are seeking an urgent meeting with the administrators to ensure that any payment for policing costs at future Rangers games is guaranteed. âUntil we have such a guarantee we would not be in a position to commit public resources to policing an event unless we had a reassurance that our costs would be met.â Two days later A police spokeswoman confirmed the force is planning for Saturdayâs game between Rangers and Kilmarnock on Ibrox after a meeting with administrators. She said: "We have had a positive meeting with the administrators and received assurances about payment for the provision of police services."
