Oh I would of snapped someone's hand off and thought I was dreaming to go into Jan in 1st position! And I don't want to be negative in anyway I just feel once we lose top spot it will be hard to get back, Having said that nothing would surprise me if Nige and the lads regained it after a couple of weeks and never looked back!
It won't feel so bad if we drop a place despite winning a few games over the next few weeks, but it will be bad psychologically if we just carry on losing at the moment. It will be harder psychologically to overcome a persistent losing spell than an intermittent one. After all, both West Ham and Middlesbrough will drop points as well. Feeling a bit worried about Cardiff I have to admit.
Fran Cardiff simply have to go up automatically they always bottle the playoffs if I were a fan of theirs and finished between 3rd and 6th I would be thinking another season in the championship!!
It's strange though, isn't it. If we had been in the top 6 all season and managed to crawl top on goal difference, we'd be going into the new year on a high, because we'd feel on a roll. Let's just forget the past few games and start again.
Totally agree replicate the first half of the season and were be at promised land well ahead of schedule
I think Forests centre backs are slow, so if Guly and the wily Connolly are fit I see us being able to score, plus we can always bring on De Ridder. In contrast Forest have not been scoring too many themselves.
Racing and Football Outlook do a recent form table based on the last 6 games, and we're third from bottom on that, one place above Forest. But we've had no luck whatsoever recently, especially against Brighton and Bristol City when we put in decent performances. Hopefully our bad run can end with a victory at Forest. Ricky having an enforced rest at this stage of a long season may be no bad thing either. After all, we start every game with 10 outfield players all capable of scoring if things fall right. I expect us to be top after the weekend, and what's more I also expect West Ham to slip up. Not sure how I'd feel about that.
Forest away just sounds tricky to me. They'll be desperate for points and we've been so bad recently that like many peeps on here I'm not confident. But we really need to grind out a point here and stop keeling over on the road. Its all bloody psychological, we're more than capable of dealing with these games, we just to stand up and be counted now. Like someone said, I'd have bitten your hand off if offered 1st place after 25 games... we needto forget december and start again through till May.
The players need to get off their high and I think these past few results have really put them in their place. I hope they realise that the first half of the season is completely different compared to the second half of a season! Teams up to maybe 14th (depending on points) will see the play offs in sight and teams below us will click another gear up! That's why we need to make some signings to really show we mean business and to keep ahead. We have stayed top of the past two months through luck and other results going our way!
I wouldn't say every player is capable of scoring yes in logic its always possible! But do you see Fox or Spiderman ( I know he has ) getting a goal or anymore this season? Lallana's goals have dried up and the only player I see scoring on Saturday with any great confidence is Guly. Now I hope I am wrong and would be the happiest man alive to look a idiot by the three above players scoring in a comfortable 3-0 victory I just can't see it! That's the only reason I have gone for 0-0 or 1-1.
Forest 1-1 Saints Last minute goal to dash all our hopes after going 1-0 up after ten minutes Boro 2-2 Burnley Think Burnley are a strong side and can snatch a draw Don 1-0 Cardiff Sharp grabs a goal after 80 mins because cardiff get tired from tonight Skate 2-2 West ham Pompey are a strong home team but West Ham will be up for it. Draw or very narrow WH win
I'd be interested to see the odds for us to still be top. I could imagine they would be massive. Gotta feeling Pompey will beat west ham though
Yeah I'm a gloom merchant...only by thinking we will drop over the next 2 games. However not really gloomy as thought we'd be about 12th in the league at this point of the season! Our dip in form is worrying as before we were scoring goals from everywhere and it seems to have dried up!?!? So who's going to make the step up to get us back on track?
