That was the following season the real issues started the transfer window 2004-5 , why do you have to say you were polite ? Why would anyone highlight the fact they were polite ?
Burley came in when we were in the Championship so I dont understand your point ? And I thought we spent big the following season , £7 Million or something like that ?

My point as explained in the post is that it is another example of "at all costs" not working and leaving a club in financial woes ... no matter when those woes started.

It was hardly all guns blazing was it , all that proved was we sold all our quality and had to start again , the moot point is Burley bought mostly crap and we suffered , the rot was set in by then .

In fact we a net spend total that season of £3.5 Million .

Ok let's go back a little. You said the "conservative approach is as much a gamble"... I explained that I disagreed because the worst case option for those is as follows:

    1. conservative approach - spend sensible money - get relegated ....... ............club in league below but stable financially
    2. "at all costs" approach - spend insanely on fees and wages - get relegated ....club in league below but unstable financially

I asked (politely, because I wanted to show you I am a polite boy; my choice and I insecurely felt the need to do so), can you not see in this example that the conservative approach is not "as much as a gamble", but a slightly lesser gamble long term?

If you reply that any big wage signings will be sold after relegation, then I'd ask if they would be sold at a loss and if the wages were too high, would anyone want to buy them?

Ok then , lets take it o a bit further , why did we buy one player for £12 Million and then rising to £15 Million on appearances ?
If we spend and and go down yes course thats bad but at least we gave it our best shot , bottling it and "gambling" on doing a West Brom is hardly brave , wise or good for the fans .

    Who's question is it next?

I played this game once on a training course (you know the ones that our Nigel goes on and you love); anyway, you had to answer every question with a question ... were you on that course?

    Answer the question please.

In answer to your first question, maybe because there was an opportunity to purchase a player with undoubted quality.

In answer to your last question, it is not "bottling" it but it is managing the club financially safely.

And that is the best question , what cost we put at staying the premiership ? I think that same question is now going through Corteses mind .
For the cost of of the "gamble" surely has to be what we will be and were given for being promoted .

Maybe we should stop paying for our Academy, stop the Saints foundation, pocket all the charity money collected, have fans with buckets outside collecting spare cash, not pay the taxman, sell the ground out and rent it back, agree to pay non-football people 20% of whats owed.

All these idea`s should raise that bit extra cash for the extra special players we could get, maybe win some silverware and get into Europe.

I bet no-ones thought of these great ideas before.

I fully agree on that , but why does it have to be the doomsday of going out of business ? Thats the extreme that could happen ? Drama or what .

only made a drama because of your inability to communicate in a rational manner,. The drama over the last few weeks has been dictated by your attitude and communication skills.

Example: "Oh woe is me for all our transfers have been rubbish ..." Yeah right. An England under 21 right back, an England Under 21 striker (who by the way has hardly been played in his best position), a very good looking (abilitywise) goal keeper, a technically gifted player not seen at our place since the Le Tissier's days, who was courted by some of the biggest clubs in the World and we were prepared to spend a lot of money on (something you usually moan that we won't do)...... yes, a terrible set of transfers.

Add to that, the fact you infiltrated every friggin thread with the same ****e about poor transfers ..... who is the drama queen? There is no doubt it is you, that or you are a very spoilt only child who doesn't know how to behave when they don't get what they want on their Christmas list.

Ps: Wallop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I believe that is your non-dramatic end to a discussion too)
