Do we actually know why he picked Yoshida over Cedric or are we all just second guessing. Regardless of 'Ron knows best", I would love to know his reasoning because despite all the arguments, it does look an odd decision albeit one that, with hindsight, could be considered a masterstroke. I was also wondering how we'e all be feeling if that penalty had been given.
We have of course been second guessing or making suggestions based purely on speculation. The height thing. The fitness thing. The resting and recharging thing. We are unlikely to find out really, although I agree it would be good to understand why the selections are made, but I think that will stay in a Premier League manager's locker. We will possibly see more of this as we get closer to the Christmas/New Year fixture madness too.
Well yeah, that was my point on the other thread. Nobody is arguing over the better RB (although for some reason it's still happening!) - the only thing worth speculating over is the reasons why on those occasions he is picked over Cedric. Not sure why speculation like that needs to be met with abuse, but still.
Not sure we can. It seems likely, but not seen enough of him in action to categorically say that. (That's not me trying to silence anyone, it's just me disagreeing. Feel free to come back to argue an alternative viewpoint!)
I have no wish to be controversial . However, I'm yet to be completely convinced that either of them is the complete right back.
Oh great, another Yoshida v Cedric thread. Because such a topic really needs more air time on here. I couldn't possibly comment...
I don't know about thought police but we do sometimes end up 'ganging up' on solo thinkers when we believe they are wrong. I see nothing amiss with it providing the debate doesn't become stroppy with name calling or suggesting a person has a low intelligence level. Then someone might as well say Hitler so that we can go back to actual debate, rather than name calling.
I've heard Maya starts to cover for Mane's defensive frailities, and to allow Mane to play a more advanced role on the right hand side.
IMO, Mane is better on defense than Tadic. Mane does however, tend to wander more and go on gut busting runs, so may need more cover. I think people are too hung up on the fact that Yoshida is supposedly a CB. I bet there wouldn't have been as much fuss if Martina had started at RB for a game over Cedric. So just think about Yoshida as our second best RB who can provide cover to give the starter a rest, or in certain exceptional situations where Koeman thinks maybe there is a small tactical advantage to be gained. And as a backup RB, he's not bad. You give up something in attack, and you probably can't play him against experienced, speedy wingers but overall he's not too bad.
