Amazing the power of the internet now, simple people with a voice that can destroy someone in a day.. Half these people have probably never contributed anything to anything, had a proper fight in their lives, paid a proper bill or nowt. The internet has certainly let loose a new race of people..

 

In fairness the reviews were very clearly spoofs and the only thing people criticised was the manager - who had taken to belittling and insulting the most mild criticism. He never lost any business out of it.

 

I remember it, was a few years ago.. I was talking on a whole and not just that thread..

 

I don't disagree at all. I went to a B&B in Wales a couple of weeks ago and it was rated one of the worst in the area on Trip Adviser. It was a lovely little family run place yet the reviews were vicious - and in many cases clearly a pack of lies. Definitely a campaign.

 

Has to be mate and it's pretty **** that happens, had a similar experience in a Perth B&B about 5 years ago, there's a lot of doctored reviews on Amazon as well by 3rd party trader wars, it's like electricity, Lithium batteries, Chips and ****ing stupidity has taken over life..

 

Says it all mate doesn't it? This place is basically like a mini gc now with the **** that is allowed.

Shame.

 

The great British cop-out, the phrase that gets shifted around when people **** up from top to bottom. Lessons will never be learnt now, people could never be bothered to learn the original script..

 

History is always repeated as nobody was listening the first time.

 

Fairly tame really compared to some off the others threads they've done.

 

we were lucky enough to go to Lisbon this summer and stayed in this lovely flat a 5 minute walk from the beach. It had 3 decent sized bedrooms, a decent front room and eating area, two bathrooms and a decent kitchen and it was clean and everything worked.

We saw a review of the accommodation when my uni kid was leaving ours that complained about a ****ing dog barking in the street

Last year I went with my son to Rome for a long weekend, and stayed in a ridiculously cheap hotel on the Via Nazionale, a few minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain, The Colliseum, the Forum, about a fifteen minute walk from the Vatican.

The place was clean, the breakfast was okay, the coffee was good and free. Quite a few people on Expedia and Trip Advisor complained that it was noisy at night. No **** Sherlock, it's in the middle of ****ing Rome. If you sleep with the windows open, you are going to hear noise ffs.

 

I think this was when myself and Minxy brought in the no topless/porn rule. GC was never under our domain, one area we left alone as it belonged to the original members of the site before the closure of the BBC, the Scottish (Celtic/Rangers) contributors, which was overseen by the site owner. The mobile networks took us down along with google, which meant the site was unavailable to all for a period of time. The site owner removed the offending material and Minxy broke the site completely when removing a very long running thread featuring women on the Toon board. GC in part was then moved to a password protected area called GC Uncut.

I believe interest then moved to other areas ie; Trip Advisor which Dan has just mentioned above.
