Both should step down let the new generation grow. Gerrard would have stepped down even if we'd won the world cup - he know's he's had his time, and it's time to move on. Rooney simply isn't a big tournament player, he can't handle the pressure. 1 goal in however many world cups is absolutely pathetic for your so called number one striker. Sturridge matched that in one game, he needs the new generation around him so England can develop. Not Rooney, he is well past his best - he peaked early, some players do, and Rooney is clearly one of those.
But roo gets the goals in qualifying (he has 40) thats No. 3 on the list of all time English scorers. Try harder
Rooney has been a very good player for England bar World cups... But he has looked better in this one Messi went 8 years without a World Cup goal, is he **** too? Maybe the Scousers think Klose>messi
Ronaldo has TWO world cup goals. The world cup is NOT a good way to judge players.... says please log in to view this image
Worryingly, Stevie has no announced his retirement yet. The worse ever England captain, who has 50 more caps than serial winner Scholes too... how did that happen?
.. the benchmark wasn't that high tbf ... he had enormous difficulty with basic ball control during the South Africa debacle ...
