It's fair to say the idea of hiring an England manager because he's English has ****ing failed catastrophically. And when you look at the muppets from England being shortlisted to take over, you have to worry.

I say, let the best man for the job get it regardless, and we should set our sights on the EU. The best man for the job in this case just happens to be a proud European. Yes, you've guessed it... we should hire Slaven Bilic. The guy knows our game, has a very good tactical understanding of the game (you can see this from his time at West Ham and from wiping the floor with Ian 'dumbfuck' Wright's neanderthal views on ITV) and he has a winning mentality.

He's also already done international management with his homeland Croatia, kicking our arses in the process. Plus he's on a good thing at West Ham.

He doesn't come across as someone bothered by money to me

The three FA men with the task of finding the new England manager are not experienced enough for the task.
The candidates and ultimately the choice should be purely down to experienced ex-players and or managers with nothing to gain by their choice of successor.

The FA need to change radically if they want English football to be successful at international level.

Something happens to players as they go from playing comfortably at clubs to playing below par for England. Maybe they're overwhelmed with the blazers and history, boys of '66 and all that.

We need our next manager to foster a small club/underdog/Wimbledon mentality.

Big Sam could do this very well. He has no history with England as a player and so won't be overwhelmed.

Arsene Wenger may be good for getting us through qualifiers but in a tournament he'll be found wanting, tactically inept, unable to inspire and won't improve the mental strength of players.

His desire to finish 4th might be an issue in the group stages.
