For my tuppence worth, I really hope none of the promoted teams get relegated, although sadly, if were a gambling man, then on our performance so far, we have to be far more likely to drop than Swansea or Norwich. Truth is, both Swansea and Norwich are playing better than their respective sum of parts and they deserve to stay up. I think it is not going to be a good year for Wigan & Blackburn. It's a scrap for the rest and goal difference might well be all that sends someone down.
I think it'll be Wigan, Wolves and Blackburn. But I do think there will be a hell of a scrap at the end of the season for one or two of the relegation places, and I just hope we have a great run Feb - April, and are well out of it
If Blackburn manage to keep key players they have enough to stay up, most teams that go down is through lack of a proven goal scorer and they have the big Yak, so i think they just have enough in the tank. For me it will be the end of the W teams this year !
Have not read whole thread so apologies if duplicated but most of the betting sites are now putting Wigan, Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton before us with Swansea not too far behind for likely relegation. In terms of who I want to go down? Hated it so much myself, would not wish it on any team and their supporters - except Millwall!!
Still far too early to say who will go down; we can certainly say who is likeliest to go, because the bookies tell us so, but form is temporary, even bad form ( I hope). Only a few short weeks ago most of us agreed that the points needed to stay up would be a bit less than last year, mainly because the Mancs were beating everybody and at the other end (our end!) Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn were lagging far behind and seemed cut adrift. We all know what happened next, and we've been dragged into the fray, but hopefully our form has started to improve; time will tell. We felt that 20 pts by the turn of the year would be our target for safety; our next game on 2 Feb sees us on that points tally, after which we have fifteen games left, the last 6 of which on paper we wouldn't be looking to have to get much from, so our next 10 games must give us close to 16 points and hopefully we can pick up 4 points from the rollercoaster run-in. You may say that other clubs will get nowhere near that tally but we must keep our focus on our games and keep it in our own hands.
