I do like large band set ups. I'm a nick cave and the bad seeds fan and most funk bands have 7 or more musicians in the line up. Whether it's picking out instruments from harmonies or keeping up with raw chaos. Just love a lot going on when i listen to music.
Big bands are great - I'd love to get into a proper "big band" wedding set up with horns and the lot. Just a very competitive market and a lot of work for someone with a day job and a family!! (boo hoo for me eh?!) Am doing well with my solo stuff at the minute and have a very good rep so no point fixing something that ain't broken yet. Once my kids are up and gone I'll turn into an "old rocker" in some club band somewhere
Personally think Springsteen, Hendrix, Gallagher and all them f*ckers were w*nk singers. Excellent musicians and bloody good to watch but singing. Eh No.
I love Spingsteen even though he's a ham shank. In other news my ****ing Plymouth Argyles are giving me some gyp. Went for a **** today & it took me 10 minutes to push the bastards back in.
Not my sort of music. Cheesy, samey, yank rock with corny guitar solos which helped inspire a whole sub-genre of rock that I ****ing hate ELO stand out more for me, Unique sound with feel good hooks throughout their discography. ELO are feel good band for me. I found Tom Petty and Heartbreakers dull dull dull. Weary. You're welcome to them. Enjoy fella. I'll stick to ELO and all that uplifting personality.
You heard much of Arcade Fire fella? Not a conventional band, but have a large set up and I think you might appreciate their work... Or you could hate it They're a marmite band.
I'm a fan, their new song is particularly catchy to the extent that I think I heard it on CBeebies the other day. I was concerned they'd gone all happy clappy for lack of a better word but the lyrics are fairly dark which was a relief. I haven't heard any others off that album yet but it's a good opener.
I've not heard it yet, only heard Reflektor a few times. Kind of drifted off elsewhere. I'm like a sponge with music at this moment in my life. I'm 35 and there's an infinite amount of music to be listened to so I'm all over the shop dipping my toes in all kind of oceans. I must revisit and give the their last two albums some time. Listening to Funeral at the moment for a little nostagia trip. I don't give myself enough of those either. Going to make the effort, to give the new album a listen and buy it if I like it, cheers fella. I'm about to go vinyl so it will have to wait till i've obtained my first ever.
Absolute mate, different tastes init. I'm sure they're great. Millions don't listen to them for nowt do they?
I went to see a tribute band called The ELO experience at the Sunderland Empire recently... They were bloody good..
