You can blame the defense if you like, the truth is we won't know who is to blame until someone gets replaced. I personally believe the defending issues were due to lack of leadership, something a goalkeeper is somewhat responsible for. Schmeichel seems to have no leadership ability whatsoever and his communication ability with the defense cost us a fair few goals. The truth is there are many gaps in our squad and it's impossible to work out which players are the weakest links until some of those holes are fixed. We actually have some decent quality in our defense, they just seem reluctant to work together without a leader involved. Schmeichels ability to gel with the defense was sketchy at best all season, even when they were performing like a well oiled machine and grinding out hard earned clean sheets, it seemed Schmeichel was on a different planet. Of course, the issue may be the back room staff. We simply cannot know until something changes. Maybe he'll do better for you than he did for us. Maybe much, much better. Just don't get your hopes up about a keeper that has shown himself to be very average in his first season in the championship.
I think our young, on loan defence made half-decent Chris Weale and world class (In his day.) Ricardo look poor so I'm not going to write him off based on Leeds shipping goals last season. The thing which worries me is his attitude. The last thing we want is another DJ Campbell to upset a happy dressing room. Sven did say the other day that he only wants players at the club who are proud to pull on the jersey and who have the right attitude. Sven does know Schmeichel so we will have to trust his judgement on this until we have evidence otherwise. Leeds fans could be over emphasising his weaknesses because he has left. I'm not saying they are being dishonest but we are all prone to point out the negative once a player has left. It's a defence mechanism for being jilted probably!
looks like a Leeds fan hacked his account and said that he would be staying at Leeds, but hes sorted it out now. http://twitter.com/#!/kpschmeichel1 this has prob angered him further to get out of Leeds fast
Not sure why you've revived this thread, but if Kasper had any critics pre-season, they've definitely been won over now.
There comes a time in life when you must simply say "I WAS WRONG" & I was. Well done JS you proved me wrong & I´m glad you did. Sometimes it´s nice to be wrong. Top season & well done for winning the POTY.
What sort of sad little boy looks though a year of past posts for a team that has no historical rivalry with his own? So what that we didn't like the look of him originally - your goalkeeper came from a relegated side, did you instantly like him? If I was as pathetic as you I'd hunt through your past posts where your team was doing the same about Lonergan and lamenting the loss of KS.
For your information, you bedraggled ****-munchers, I searched 'Leeds' in the search bar (because I'm cool like that) before I logged in. After it directed me to do so, a page was displayed which appeared to have its results determined in a non-chronological fashion. So there were results from months ago on there. This thread was one of the first on the list, and I clicked on it because I thought there'd be a plentiful supply of and -able material. It indeed did prove to be so. And do feel free to scrutinize similarly on the Leeds board. Any ****'s fair game in the boring close season. Go for it.
