Oh what so because he hasn't come out and quashed some made up quote, ironically one that probably started on twitter, it must be real. Whenever there is transfer rumours or anything else football related for that matter, that does not come from any sort of source it is definitely fake but when some kid on the internet makes up a Bergkamp quote...it HAS to be real.
It's widely reported as being attributed to Dennis Bergkamp, maybe those random twitter people have got it wrong ?
Widely attributed by who? Nobody associated with Arsenal or Bergkamp have even acknowledged the existence of this so called quote. There is no source from where the quote came from so the likelihood is, as is with the case of everything else that does not have a source, is that this quote is fabricated. Anybody can make up a quote and claim it to be real despite there being no source for it.
Meh I don't see why anybody from Arsenal would come out and acknowledge it either way to be honest. You say it's fake, but you don't have any evidence to back it up, so nobody can be 100% sure. Like I said though, the sentiment is what counts and the point of the quote is a salient one.
Henry: "Wenger is a twat and I've always secretly admired Spurs." No source for the above quote but then again I've never heard Henry or anybody else deny it so who knows it could be true.
Do you watch in the hope your club loses or wins? I've yet to meet anyone who watches their club and hopes they lose so the chance to meet such individuals will terrify me. i mean I know fans of clubs who have been relegated numerous times yet funnily enough they ar happiest when their teams re promoted or in the case of a friend from Leigh, he was most happy when his beloved Wigan won the FA Cup. He wasnt so happy the following week. I'm not saying watch you team only when they win, that's impossible unless you only watch highlights of games. My point is everyone involved in football is involved with the aim of winning. Be it trophies or over achieving ( not every club can win trophies after all ). Success is the aim of the game. it was from the very moment it became an amateur sport in the 1800's. Also its always fans of the bigger more successful clubs who state that trophies are not important. fans of smaller clubs dream of winning League Cups and Fa Cups, even smaller clubs dream of the FL Trophy and below them the FA Vase. alongside that promotion and avoiding relegation. A trophy would make another football season into the greatest season in their life. So no, trophies are not the be all and end all but without the desire to win them, footballs pointless.
