Morning all. First, I got a little pissed last night which may or may not excuse my manner. However, let me make it clear that I have never reported anybody on this board ever. In fact, I hadn't even noticed that there was a 'report' button until grandpops complained last autumn that a certain poster was bombarding the new mods with trivial reports.

I had not even suggested any "conspiracy against relic" until Commo said he'd sent certain people pms "asking/begging for leniency" on my behalf. Well, if that is true, I offer you my sincere thanks for your kind consideration, Commo But I do find it suspicious that a lifelong SAFC fan (regardless of the length of that life) needs 'leniency' for expressing his view on Sunderland issues on a Sunderland forum.. I do think that needs bringing out into the open, and reasons asked.

Tel, if I might turn to you for a moment, I lost all interest in boxing around the time of Larry Holmes or perhaps Michael Spinks. I agree with the common view that boxing needed the up-and-coming Mike Tyson - it did need livening up, and Mike did it. But too late for me, I'm afraid. By then I'd got into other things and have never gone back to boxing. On the subject of Floyd Mayweather, Jnr., I would offer no opinion, good or bad, for that reason. I would, however, agree that his record on paper is top class.

Can I just end by addressing the 'life was hard in the old days' myth. That is very much a younger man's perception. At the time, it was just normality. In the 1950s. it was well-worth standing in a 6-deep queue each evening to use something as fantastic as a public telephone. Nobody grumbled about that. Food rationing (which didn't end till 1954) was what you had to do in order to win the war. Hard time? - I suppose it was by today's standards, but every housewife in Britain did it willingly at the time. This is the nature of progress, isn't it? Very few old men actually think in the way you younger guys imagine. The old times were hard, sure, but only when viewed from the future. They were o.k. then, by god. Hey, bol**cks to this. You think what you like of me but I'll wish you two the best. There it is.

Just to be clear, Comm PM'ing me to ease up on you had nothing to do with letting you have your say on all things Sunderland. It was more to do with the viciousness of my verbal attacks on you and the fact that he cared about you, he wasn't the only one who PM'd me by the way.

I don't have any interest in denying you your say on your club, despite what you may think I've got better things to spend my time on than that. I've never actually opposed or objected to your vast knowledge of your club, my only resistance has been with your application and denial of other opinions, anyway, that's irrelevant now and isn't worth revisiting.

I've given you my word in the past and here it is again, there's no more beef for you from me, unless you fan the embers.
