Refresh me what year that really recent dive is?

Maybe he's learnt the error of his ways?

    This basically.

I'm waiting for a Spurs fan to start a new poll that can include Suarez to deflect the attention away from Bale.

Thats what usually happpens in the media right about now when a good old domestic boy does the naughty.

Love this Gerrard is a diver argument.

From a huge career people can usually only pick out one or two instances of him falling easily, with some contact.

A dive is a complete simulation of contact (ie. Bale).

EDIT: Picked Welbeck because I remember how he won the penalty against Chelsea last season - leaving his leg in to fake a challenge. Think that's almost more cynical than a normal dive.

You are out of order including Bale. He is brilliant at it! The worst diver is Young, his pathetic performances convinced very few - sadly it includes the ref, but they are stupidly obvious dives. I am shocked you didn't include Ivanovic (and others Chelsea players), his rubbish attempt recently makes him a contender.

One dive doesn't make you a 'diver'

But being tripped when even the defender admits he made contact does... <whistle>

Talking of British divers, Rooney himself hasn't had a good dive in a while. <ok>

Rooney, Wellbeck and Young are the 3 worst English divers but I don't blame them. There is solid proof in Japp Stams book that bacon face tells his players to dive at every chance they get.

    Probably because he isn't British.

Agreed the Ivan one was poor but has dived less in his whole career than Bale seems to have done in the last 2 weeks. United have a fair few though, Welbeck is right up there.

Careful there, admitting to making contact doesn't mean he didn't dive. Plus he has a glowing history of it <ok>

But anyway, I misread the title so I revoke Suarez and go with Young.

Over the past 12 months I'd say Young, then Bale and then Welbeck. Though as far as I can remember (may be wrong) Bale hasn't dived to try and win a penalty (though the fall at Scotland was dubious but their player did admit contact), which the other two have, not that I'm trying to dignify his actions, I despise diving and ripped into Bale on our board for it.

Overall though, as YV mentioned, it's Andy Johnson by a ridiculously long country mile. He won numerous penalties due to his pathetic falls, Tom Daley would have serious competition if Johnson took up diving full time.

That Fergie said United players in 2001 may as well do what the other clubs in Europe do constantly and go down after contact in the box.

He also said English players dont do this often, nothing compared to their continental counterparts.

Chelseas old man Andre Flo said something quite similar about the continental diving. They have more dives in a game than we have in a weekend but because we dont accept it we make a big fuss over it while they dont even acknowledge it elsewhere.

A chap called Brendan told the refs his side were going to dive though. A grade A plonker I am sure you will agree. When they did dive as he promised the player chosen to lead the way did a dive within a dive. An inception dive <ok>

In La Liga diving is seen as a skill rather than cheating and fans applaud a decision winning dive.

Yep so if we go and make a big fuss over it, ban players and do whats right England and likely english clubs will struggle on the world stage.

Besides much of Europe having superior technical ability they will have another advantage over us because the referees are likely to consider diving a none issue as well.

Make your mind up UIR, only last week in a thread on our board you said the dark knight would never say such a thing and that Stam's story was bullshit.
