We are still after Pearce from Portsmouth!!! Why oh ****ing Why? He made it clear that he didn't want to come here in January so why go after him again now! It makes no sense when you have a fully committed player in Tommy Smith who is beginning to show the promise we thought he had! Yes we need another Centre Back but lets now wait until the summer and actually sign someone who wants to play for Town.
The problem is we've been sh*t for the past 4 years and also in that time we've had such a high turnover of players that we haven't really had or got a talisman atm. Hopefully there will be one or a few in the next few seasons, when this squad settles down and hopefully there won't be quite as many changes as the past few years!! Bullard could have been tbh and perhaps still could be but we'll have to wait and see!!
On the subject of Pearce, is a player actually going to come out and say that they want to play for a certain club whilst they are still at another. Plus he was not one of the players who we actually had a bid accepted for and therefore he did not reject us. At the time when we were in for these players we were on a terrible run of form looking like we were going to get relegated and a possibly have a change of manager, its hardly surprising that the players were luke warm in wanting to sign for us. I hope we pull this one off, very good defender and exactly the type of player we need.
Its a good question and I dont think we have anyone who you could call talismanic. I couldnt call JET or Martin a talisman although they are very good players (on there day - we have all called for them to be kept away from the first team aswell) you dont get a 'never say die' attitude from them and when things are going wrong they are more likely to be missing than at the fore. Delaney as the right attitude for the role but lacks in ability and intelligence to take that crown. Are there any other characters in the squad? I cant think of any and this could be why we are after Pearce again. We just dont have anyone that you know will be 100% solid, will give everyone a boast when things are going badly or can turn things around due to his will to win.
The man has all the footballing ability of a brick outhouse,I'm sorry but he really doesn't deserve his shirt.
Martijn Reuser was a good one also Bobby Petta at the moment i think Lee Martin if he carrys on with his impressive displays.
